Grounded Leadership: Resisting the Pull of Urgency

What a week it was—Leadership Huddles kicked off! It was such a joy and privilege to work with leaders in a space that allowed us to slow down and lean into meaningful conversations. Imagine a day with no yard duty, no urgent calls, no back-to-back meetings, no checking emails. It really was a space for focus and connection.
And yet, it wasn’t easy. We are so used to urgency—answering emails, responding to messages, shifting between tasks, moving fast. To have a whole day where this wasn’t required—where we were actively encouraged to resist the urge to check in, reply, or multitask—felt… uncomfortable.
That discomfort? It’s the signal that something important is shifting. Grounded leaders and teams don’t just slow down—they intentionally resist the pull of urgency and hold the space for what truly matters.
Some leaders love ticking off the to-do list, others are more comfortable leaning into the space between tasks. Grounded teams and grounded leaders know how to hold both—making time for action and protecting the space to think, reflect, and align.
Check out the challenge below and experiment with how you manage the tension of both doing and being.
I’d love to know what this sparks for you - do drop me a comment and share your thoughts.
Stay grounded and lead well,
Katrina
P.S. Got Huddle-envy? If you’d love to create this kind of brave, thought-provoking space for your team, let’s talk about how we can make it happen together!
