The gross reason remote workers won’t get back to the office

?

If you were lost during the pandemic on WHY toilet paper was sold out all the time, read this.

If you would tell me that among the reasons people are not willing to go back to work, HORRIBLE bathroom stories are on the top, I would advise you to check with your Doctor!!!

Are you sure?

In a new survey among 3,000 remote workers, 25% said,” No way I am back.”

We are talking that 25% of the workforce in the US wants to stay home. Now, logical reasons like quality time, a healthy life, and avoiding traffic are among the objections, which is ok; I have worked from home as well as all the team since the beginning, but the #2 reason will blow your mind.

The numbers?

#1 This is pretty common: with 24% Flexibility and control of time

# 2 Make sure you are sitting: 19% horrible bathrooms as a reason to stay home?

#3 This one is for the ladies: 11% menstruation, more comfortable dealing with their periods at home?

#4 This one, well this one - I do this: 9% enjoy more spending time with their pet than co-workers

#5 This is surprisingly low for the topic: 8% Commute; I guess this is the reason podcasting is killing regular media

#6 Who can’t relate to this one: 7% planning lunch and eating healthy at home

#7 Another social avoidance: 4% coffee breaks at home, alone

#8 We hear stories, but maybe not all is lost: 4% sharing quality time with their partners during the day - breakfast-lunch-coffee

#9 Hummmm, this is the lowest number???: 2.46% spending time with the kids at home

#10………………………..you fill the gap here - what will be your reason for not going back to work?

Let’s get nerdy on the why???

Personal grooming is a sign of status, health and wealth. Humans and animals share this trait. The lack of this habit is a sign of problems or sickness.

Personal hygiene was, in the past, a luxury for the wealthiest. The first modern flushable toilet was described in 1596 by a godson of Queen Elizabeth I.?

Toilet paper evolution - The most common were things like corncobs and seashells. But by the 1800s, paper was becoming more widely available. And finally, in 1857, a New Yorker named Joseph Gayetty introduced and first patented toilet paper. He called it “Medicated Paper for the Water-Closet” and Gayetty's name was printed on every sheet.

Now, if we look at the numbers, 2 and 3 are grooming needs, while the others are related to quality- balance lifestyle.

The need for private space

Reading an article about architecture last week about the 2024 trend, this came up: no more open kitchens/spaces.

That white kitchen open to everyone walking into your house is gone. One of the pandemic side effects is the living space comfort that doesn’t match the design in the last decade.

If you really use your kitchen, there is no way it is clean 24/7.?

Another trend is separating spaces, which correlated with the 9 reasons people won’t go back to work: PERSONAL SPACE!!!

Conclusion:

With companies downsizing office space, shared spaces and lack of privacy, is there a window to add these needs?

Like everything, this has its pros and cons. There is more isolation and less human interaction, and people prefer time with pets than humans.

Some people think not coming back to the office can affect your career. Let’s review this in the next article.

I fall into Reason 8: spending time with your partner/spouse. I absolutely LOVE being able to see my husband during the day. We walk around the park or grab a coffee when the weather is nice. I think I'll be crushed if he ever has to return to the office five days a week.
