GRiT FOOTPRiNT #4 - Smart Cities
In this month’s GRiT FOOTPRiNT, we dive into a project in which the main objective is to develop a Smart City product focused on a remote-controlled street lighting system based on IoT technology.
Here are the highlights of this project. ??
Project Scope
The client has a set of IoT devices to manage public lighting. Our team helped on the product improvement, by developing new software features, firmware updates and troubleshooting, on solutions that integrate sensors and controllers into streetlights. These devices allow for the adjustment of light intensity and schedules based on real-time conditions, resulting in significant energy and operational savings.

Integration of Functions
The engineering team in this project was responsible for developing and improving the IoT-enabled street lighting system, with each department handling different aspects of the implementation. The IoT team developed the software that runs on the sensors, while another team was responsible for ensuring the integration with the city's existing infrastructure. Our consultants also guided the client’s IT team through the process of maintaining and updating the system as new features are added.
