From Hustle to Harmony

In my first career as a Hollywood TV Editor & Producer, hustle and grind was my norm. But on my second career? Nah! I have absolutely no interest in the constant grind that can feel more like a straitjacket than a strategy. It is clear: grinding has become contrary to my matured spiritual beliefs.

Why? Because there’s an immense power in walking WITH God in His grace rather than pushing hard on our own.

Shae’s message resonated with me profoundly. It's not about hustling harder but surrendering smarter. Surrendering to the flow of divine grace that aligns our efforts with God’s effortless provision and timing.

The Miraculous Provision

For our first mission for my nonprofit, Move-In Day Mafia, I was divinely instructed to move in 13 scholars at Paul Quinn College in Dallas.

Move-In Day Mafia provides dorm room makeovers and monthly care packages for four years to students who have aged out of foster care, or are unhoused, or grapple with severe financial hardships AND attend HBCUs (Historically Black Colleges & Universities.)

With just $3500 in our bank account, far short of what was needed, I headed to Dallas from Atlanta, figuring God would come through with a "2 fish, 5 loaves of bread" kind of miracle.

An hour before shopping, I had another business meeting with God.

Nervous and anxious, I asked for the strategy we were supposed to execute. He abruptly told me to call Teri Ijeoma, one of my former storytelling clients.

Well that certainly sounded like a weird time to call ANYBODY for a “Hey Girl” catch up session.

Confused but obedient, I called, not realizing Teri was from Dallas. I told her what we were up to. Her next question floored me, "How much are you short?" I hesitantly admitted, "$17,000."

Without skipping a beat, she said, "You’ll have it in an hour."

And guess what? My PayPal was pinging in LESS than an hour.

Why grind when you can groove with grace?

=> Grind pushes you to the edge; grace pulls you toward peace.

=> Grind demands more effort; grace delivers more results.

We are going to kiss the grind goodbye and welcome a work-life harmony that’s powered by a little more faith and a lot less frenzy. Soooooo...
