A Grill Made for Flavour

A Grill Made for Flavour

While we explore many great tips, tricks, and techniques in the Broil King Blog, it's great to have the opportunity to bring some of those ideas together into bigger concepts here with the newsletter.

For our first bi-weekly post, we're going to explore grilled flavour, what is grilled flavour?

We can start off with another important question. When you cook a steak in a pan does it taste the same as a steak that you've grilled? The answer is regularly no, now let's explore why. Both the pan-seared steak and the grilled steak have sear marks and caramelization but the perfect grilled steak comes with grilled flavour.

Great grilled or barbecue flavour ( grilled for our American and barbecue for our Canadian readers) is what grillers and their hungry guests crave. The incredible sear marks on the perfect steak or the rich smoky flavor of everything we grill excites our senses and fuels our imaginations. We all love the unmistakable aroma and taste of grilling.

Most grills waste food juices and drippings by moving them straight to the grease tray. That's wasted flavor! Broil King grills are built with a carefully designed cooking system meant to maximize flavor through vaporization. We combine our Flav-R-Cast cooking Grids, Flav-R-Wave heat plates, and a Therma-cast cookbox to transform food drippings into your best grilling experience. Our powerful burners generate more heat to fuel this process, turning the entire cooking area into one big delicious searing zone.

Let's dig a little deeper. Great barbecue flavor is more than sizzle and sear. It begins with vaporization, that aromatic smoke that lovingly caresses our food when we grill. We see vaporization in action when the drippings from our foods come in contact with hot metal. Those drippings transform into that unmistakable white smoke packed with delicious flavorful notes.

How do we do it? Our cooking system is unique and carefully designed with heavy materials, tight cooking grate spacing, shallow heat plate angles, and powerful burners providing more heat.???

Broil King’s renowned Flav-R-Cast iron and stainless-steel cooking grids are oversized and heavy to deliver better sear and better vaporization. Broil King cooking grids get hot and stay hot longer because they’re heavier than the competition. They trap radiant heat and have more surface area in their unique two-sided triangular shape. Think of the entire cooking area as one big searing zone. One side is pointed for the perfect steakhouse sear marks. Juices trickle down each slope to maximize flavor at the grids. The other side offers more surface contact for continuous basting while grilling.?

Beneath the cooking grids lies the Flav-R-Wave system, designed for even heat distribution. Unlike heat tents used in most other grills, the Broil King Flav-R-Waves have shallow slopes, meant to vaporize or slowly channel drippings toward the bottom of the cookbox. As drippings roll down these slopes they vaporize for more grilled flavor. The Flav-R-Wave system is also the largest vaporization surface in the industry, filling every Broil King cookbox completely with no large gaps.?

Any remaining drippings that contact the bottom of the Broil King cookbox are instantly vaporized to maximize this flavour-infusing process. Minimal drippings end up in the grease tray, no wasted flavour. When it comes to grilling flavor comes first.?
