The grid of the future will be powered by … giant subterranean bagpipes?

Speaking about Innovation...... Do you know how bagpipes work? In order to provide a consistent amount of air at the right pressure, the piper must inflate the bag periodically to compress air that then he/she pushes out into the chambers that make the sound. By carefully controlling the pressure and volume of air, they can maintain a consistently loud and with the proper pitch. It is an art form.

Suppose you now do this for an electrical grid. The biggest problem that electrical grids have is that they must have the capacity to provide electricity at peak times but at other times, they need to be able to store energy for use during that peak. In the past many solutions have been tried with varying success. Suppose you now built large units underground that would be completely sealed so that air that is compressed cannot escape unless you wanted to use it to turn a turbine to create electricity. What an Innovative concept!! The following goes into this with more depth.
