GREYHOUND GM PD-4106 PINNACLE

The Greyhound GM PD-4106 in gear. Always ready to accelerate and maneuver in highway speed. Into the wind with dust flying behind. The crystal ball reflection in look back, and always remember. The bus and structure that was meant to be. Another journey into one of my favorite Greyhound Bus models of all, the Greyhound GM PD-4106 Classic. My Grandmother and I travelled in August 1970 to MONTREAL, QUEBEC, CANADA for a weekend trip. It was the venture on the GM PD-4106 with a departure of 12:01 AM from the NEW YORK CITY PORT AUTHORITY BUS TERMINAL. It was the South wing as the North Wing wasn’t built then. Because there were more passengers for the departure, a second section was added. It means another bus was added to support the main section. However, my Grandma and I were on the main section. The bus pulled out ahead of schedule due to the second section at 11:50 AM bound for MONTREAL. The Greyhound Bus Engineering Operator carefully backed the bus away from the Departure Gate. We proceeded out the PABT and headed towards the Lincoln Tunnel onto the New Jersey Turnpike leading to Interstate 287 for the New York State Thruway. The 4106 Bus wheels were steadily moving onward.? It was an 8 hour trip, and we only made one reststop in Saratoga Springs, New York at a Diner. We were there a half an hour. Suddenly as we were getting ready to leave, the second section caught up with us. Now that’s driving. We were back on the New York State Thruway once again.

Next and final stop, Montreal. My Grandmother and I felt asleep, but now it was morning and it was sunrise. We were in Canada as I noticed Maple Leaf flags and French words. We were now approaching Canadian Customs. We were there for an hour and half. All the passengers got approval and so did our bus.

Sight before our eyes, the Skyline of Downtown Montreal. We passed the hotel we were going to stay at which was the Hotel Bonadventure which is now the Bonadventure Hilton. Greyhound Travel Bureau at the PABT made the reservations. The Beatles music group stayed at the hotel when they gave performances. Our bus pulled into the VOYAGEUR BUS TERMINAL at 505 De Maisonneuve Blvd in Montreal. We were supposed to arrive at 7:30 am, but arrived ahead of schedule at 7:00 am.

On our return back from Montreal to New York City, my Grandmother and I rode the 9:00 am Nonstop of the MC7 in the Blue and White being the original bus colors. Same stop going back in the Reststop. We arrived on-time at 4:30 pm into the New York City Port Authority Bus Terminal.

On another timeline of 1973, my Grandmother and I rode a Greyhound GM PD-4106 from Downtown Orlando to Walt Disney World in Florida. It started to heavily pour on the Florida Turnpike enroute to Walt Disney World. In fact, it became blinding. Cars were pulling to the side of the road. Our careful driver continue to maneuver and we entered the Walt Disney World grounds. However the rain had stopped, and the rain had dried up. You wouldn’t have thought it even rained. GM PD-4106 that was my run, and the total experience as I remember it being total fun.
