The Grey...

I feel like many are missing the power of the grey.
Why do you have to be anti- this if you are pro- that?
We have forgotten the beauty of difference.
There is power in conversation.
There is power in agreeing...
To disagree.
I believe in the calm...
and the hustle.
I believe in the honor of a 40 hour work week,
Doing a good job for a company that pays you.
I believe in building a business for yourself on your time,
Living in the uncertainty while striving for the legacy.
Speak up.
Stand up.
Raise each other up.
BUT
Respect each other.
Be kind to each other.
Love each other.
Be bold and brave.
Forget the all or nothing mentality.
It is not an all or nothing world.
It is a world of abundance.
With room for us all.
It doesn't have to be black or white.
There is room for both large and small.
Make a choice to go all out for your dreams.
And hold space for others to do the same.
Along the way, it will be easier to be against this.
It will be more comfortable to be for that.
I hope you will have the courage to walk in the middle.
Have more conversations.
Be more accepting.
Allow yourself and others,
To develop into the person with the thick skin,
The person with the strength to exist...
In the awkward between.
There is true beauty
In the grey.

6 年We are raising entire generations of future leaders, decision-makers, and workforce members who only know this...or that. Generations who will not know that to successfully compromise means you give some, I give some; you get something, I get something, too.?Generations who are increasingly uncomfortable in the middle because being in the middle is often portrayed as standing for nothing and being attacked by both this...and that. We need to teach the respectability of discourse and communication skills that honor difference of opinion; and, recognize that compromise is a very successful strategy for moving forward in an increasingly diverse world.?
