Greetings from the Global HRNS Network

Welcome to the first edition of our HRNS Newsletter Muddy Boots here on LinkedIn. Today we show you how our activities span continents and connect cultures. We share insights from one of our projects in Ethiopia, where we’ve been working hand-in-hand with local farmers to foster resilience and sustainable growth. HRNS also made its mark at the UNIDO World Without Hunger conference in Addis Ababa, bringing critical expertise to discussions on food security and equitable agriculture.

In this edition, you’ll see the scope of HRNS’s impact — from Africa to Latin America and beyond. Thank you for joining us on this journey.

Yours,

Jesko Johannsen , Global Head of Communications

Impact overview CAFE II Project Ethiopia

Sustainable support for smallholder coffee farming families requires a wide range of activities. Focusing solely on individual issues, such as training in farming methods, is not enough; only a holistic approach that considers and integrates different factors can truly empower smallholder farmers and prepare them for the many challenges they may face, such as changing climatic conditions, price volatility, pests and diseases, or personal crisis.

What we achieved:

  • Increased coffee productivity: 70% yield rise via climate-smart practices.
  • Enhanced gender equality: Couples seminars boosted joint decision-making.
  • Improved profitability: Profit per hectare quadrupled from GAP adoption.
  • Strengthened farmer cooperatives: 10%+ professionalism increase across cooperatives.
