Greeny Innovation - Let's talk a bit about sustainable development

For me, it's rather inspiring to witness enterprises and big corporations openly embracing a sustainable development culture, either through large or small innovations applied gradually, or through a complete cultural transformation, both in their products, services and routine processes, as well as in external contributions provided to specific companies or NGOs directed to that end.

And when it comes to innovation in services:

  • I remind seen recently on Instagram's stories the ads from a pub, which makes use of a series of metal mugs that are used and returned by their customers after consumption, instead of disposable plastic cups, plus they have a space to discard caps and bottle openers, among other recyclable materials;
  • paper packaging from some brands that warns and make clear to their customers that they have some commitment with the reforestation of the affected areas by the extraction of their raw material;
  • brands which produce capsule beverages and which sell separately or provide a compartment for correct disposal of their capsules or refer to some establishment that provides that service and,
  • Stores that have chosen to abandon their business cards in the print media and started to promote their services through their own social media channels, so their customers can follow them, get news, services, special offers and share with others.

Although I have mentioned some examples of awareness that generate a more sustainable, ecologically correct and attractive environments, of course there are many others out there, just #GoogleIt , seek for proper related keywords and it's easy to find. If you are interested, for example, in innovating through crafts and decorations, there is no shortage of inspiring ideas in Pinterest, Youtube, DIY courses, images and videos with recyclable / reusable materials, ideas to innovate in your own business, finally, you just wont find it if you don't want to.

For me, as a form of conscious contribution, although small, I seek to support and consume such products and / or services from some brands which are reportedly active and present sustainable solutions, so I can also gradually compensate any excessive consumption of technological devices and products that have little to none support for recycling offered by their suppliers, developers and third parties involved.

To conclude it with a touch of this green culture in literature, I would like to leave here, as a recommendation, the reading of an old children's book by the name of "the boy with the green thumb", originally "Tistou les pouces verts" by the French writer Maurice Druon, for I clearly remember that one of the earliest plays I've ever seen in theater was based on this book, and its context deals with subjects like "creature versus war", weapons and flora, life and death, peace, and war, needless to say, however simple, though intelligent that the plot is, it got me in some way to raise this awareness.

And you, what do you think and how do you react to this sustainable culture? Do you know about jobs similar to the ones I mentioned? Companies, corps or even NGOs that embrace sustainable development? Just feel free to talk about it in comments below.
