Only 2% of on-street chargers adapted for disabled motorists

Only 2.3% of the UK’s on-street electric vehicle chargers are adapted to be accessible for disabled motorists, according to new Freedom of Information research by Vauxhall.?

Based on information from the 223 councils who provided data to Vauxhall, only 450 of the recorded 19,456 on-street charge points in the UK have been adapted specifically for the considerations of disabled drivers.

Wales & West Utilities to explore hydrogen infrastructure

Wales & West Utilities (WWU) have appointed Costain to lead a study exploring how hydrogen refuelling stations can be integrated into the UK’s existing gas network.

The research, funded by Ofgem, will explore the potential of using the UK’s natural gas network as hydrogen fuelling infrastructure in anticipation of increased demand for zero emissions vehicles.

Specifically, the research will consider infrastructure solutions which increase the viability of hydrogen Fuel Cell Electric Vehicles (FCEVs).

Sixty years of vehicle production at Ellesmere Port celebrated

Stellantis is celebrating 60 years of vehicle manufacturing at its Ellesmere Port plant.

It's now been six decades since the first car, a Vauxhall Viva, rolled off the production line on 1 June 1964, and numerous models have been made there since.

The Stellantis Ellesmere Port plant is now a key part of British electric vehicle production, being the UK’s first EV-only volume manufacturing plant following a £100m investment by Stellantis.

Extended BIK tables must be done early by next government

Announcing extended company car benefit in kind taxation tables should be “among first fleet jobs” for the new government, says the Association of Fleet Professionals (AFP).

The AFP?says it is now nearly two years since the current tables were announced and they only run until the 2027/28 tax year, meaning fleets buying vehicles today don’t know the tax rate their drivers will be charged towards the end of the decade.

Council installs pop-up solar car park and EV charging hub

Surrey County Council has installed a pop-up solar car park and electric vehicle charging hub at its Depot Centre in Merrow, Guildford, which they will use to charge their growing electric vehicle fleet.

Each 'Papilio3' has an installed capacity of 19.3kWp and can produce up to 18MWh of electricity in year one, equivalent to 64,343 EV miles, saving 3.6 tCO2e.
