Greener Infrastructure Week (GIW)

It was great attending the opening event of the GIW, listening to our insightful speakers Lisa Kinross, Kevin Devlin and John Thwaites gave me a good feeling about progress made in our efforts on greening our infrastructure in the context of the circular economy. I was proud to see that #GHD was mentioned as one example in our industry that is proudly applying innovation in this space. GHD is and continue to offer innovation and cost-effective way for helping the circular economy happening through its global footprint.

it was great to hear from John about the progress made by the Circular Economy Ministerial Advisory Group that John Chairs and kindly share some of the insights about the group report and its recommendations, which they all pointed to very positive inroad made in this space, for which it is fair to say still has a Longway to go to have achieve the circular economy.

Kevin, from his experience as the Director General for the Victorian Infrastructure Delivery Authority threw some really good challenges at all parties involved in the infrastructure space and ask for not to reinvent the wheel every time and for every project, which is such a common miss.

Throughout the event, it was clear that using recycled materials in the construction of infrastructure as well as other sectors is a priority.

Another loud message was keep striving for innovation and push forward and continually challenge the status quo.

The ensuing discussion post presentation was very useful and provide a good forum to exchange ideas about how we accelerate the progression toward greener infrastructures as it is still a Longway, we are in this together and we do need to pull together to reach the optimum goal of a fully green infrastructure. We need to continue to challenge including changing our individual behaviour on this.
