Greenburgh recognized for our efforts making town more pedestrian safe-with 12 miles of new sidewalks added and more to come!
I am so thrilled that the town is working hard to make Greenburgh a more pedestrian friendly community. In recent years almost 12 miles of new sidewalks have been funded and built. We're currently completing a new sidewalk on Hillside, a new sidewalk on Juniper Hill in Fairview. Plan to build a new sidewalk on Dobbs Ferry Road next year from Knollwood to 119. We received a grant to build a sidewalk on West Hartsdale Ave and just got another grant to build a sidewalk on Knollwood from the Acme Supermarket to the Greenburgh Health Center. In the coming years residents will be able to walk safely from the Hartsdale train station to the Greenburgh Library. We expect another grant from the county to build a sidewalk from the Community College to 119 and also plan sidewalks on Taxter Road in E Irvington and Old Tarrytown Road from County Center Road to the Bronx River Parkway. Another sidewalk will be planned so pedestrians can walk safely to the Rumbrook Park -the home of the Elmsford Little League.
The news 12 story interviews Dylan Pyne, leader of the Edgemont Community Council who discusses the grant the town received to build a sidewalk on Old Army Road. We are also working with the ECC to build a new sidewalk on Fort Hill Road from Underhill to Longview. And plan to fund a new light at the intersection of Fort Hill Road/Ardsley Road--an initiative recommended by the Edgemont Community Council.
Nothing is more important than pedestrian safety! Thanks to all the Town Board members- Joy Haber, Ellen Hendrickx, Francis Sheehan, Gina Jackson and Commissioner of Planning Garrett Duquesne for their support of these safety improvements.
