Keeping Our Beaches Clean! Mega Clean-Up drive
Green Worms, along with an incredible coalition of organizations, made a significant impact during the Mega Beach Cleanups held on 21st May 2023. With the support and collaboration of esteemed partners, we worked together to tackle the issue of plastic pollution in three beautiful locations: Trivandrum, Alleppey, and Kochi.
The event was a remarkable success, and we were honoured to have the involvement of G20 India, Ministry of Environment, Forests & Climate Change, Government of India & Climate Change, Government of India (GoI), Directorate of Environment and Climate Change FGS & Climate Change, Lifestyle for Environment, National Centre for Sustainable Coastal Management, Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH, Sustera Foundation, and CleanHub.
The efforts of Green Worms and our collaborators would not have been possible without the dedication and hard work of the volunteers who joined us in this noble cause. These individuals and organizations worked tirelessly to collect and dispose of plastic waste, ensuring that the breathtaking beaches of Trivandrum, Alleppey, and Kochi remain pristine for generations to come.
Steering the way for a plastic-free Thamarassery Churam
We collaborated with Shri Abu Salim, a popular actor and also Wayanad’s Cleanliness Ambassador to organize and execute the clean-up drive. The event was flagged off by the Honourable District Collector of Wayanad, Dr Renu Raj I.A.S. With the influence and enthusiasm of Shri. Abu Salim and the undying spirit of the volunteers, what seemed to be a herculean and dangerous task ended up being a grand success. Together we were able to collect an impressive amount of 2240 kilograms of plastic waste which was later sent to our Thamarassery MRF.

Thira- Training for Children at Kasargode?
Green Worms organized a training camp for children to create awareness about waste management at Kasargode. The topic discussion put forth by the child representatives of Balasabha for the Suchitwa Parliament held recently was the waste management issues faced by the panchayat. Panchayat President Sufaija Aboobacker has given assurance that these recommendations would be considered with due importance. Child representatives from 23 wards attended the Kudumbashree Balasabha Suchitwa Parliament held at the Panchayat and discussed the issues arising due to improper waste management and the probable solutions to it.?
Some of the recommendations by the child representatives were to make the monthly availability of Haritha Karma Sena, install waste booths in all the tourist spots and impose fines on those who carelessly dispose of plastic waste. The Panchayat president applauded the children and also reminded them that the precautionary measures have to begin from their own homes.?
The event was chaired by Baala Panchayat President Anjana. The event was coordinated by Vice President Vaishnavi, Secretary Vipin, and the members Malavika, Nivediya Sanusha, Anamika, and A.Hridya.
