Green-washers anonymous...

I am an oil and gas employee and proudly so. I have have not done anything wrong, I have not broken any laws but I still work in oil and gas and feel like a bit of a criminal. This industry has given me a decent life, learnt a lot, met some great people and worked in a sector that provided the majority of energy for the planet. I am trying to give something back, pass on the mantle to a younger dude....why, because we are going to need oil and gas for many years to come. Like it or not.

Governments have the power to destroy, and they are currently trying to destroy the oil and gas industry with their point scoring political agendas.

We can all agree that, yes, we need clean power, but more importantly we need more power. Can renewables supply all the power, I think not. If it could why do the Greenwashing governments not start with providing power to the 770 million human beings who have no electricity ? Why start providing renewable power to the wealthy who turn their lights off once a year for an hour to ease their consciences. Why not start with giving power for those who would love to have it switched on once a year.

What is the energy transition. Is it a place where we can switch off one industry overnight with shallow, ill-thought out political nonsense. Is it a confused middle ground where due to government political point scoring, it is now a place where new graduates do not want to work in oil and gas because the governments have installed so much fear and negativity. Is it a place where offshore oil rig workers leave on mass to maintain massive windfarms, leaving drilling contractors and operators screaming out at labour shortages. Is it a place where with a quick update of the old CV, barely competent middle managers suddenly become VP's of Energy Transition, Directors of Renewables and many of these seemingly overnight experts are queuing up to talk about wind....or are they using wind to talk. You decide.

Finally from the dictionary, Transition - the process or a period of changing from one state or condition to another. Personally I see it as a scary place for our children, a confused muddle with no sustainability, regardless of the virtue signaling ESG reports regurgitated annually. What do you think?

?? agree and more Peter !! This will.be the same 'buzzword' brigade who promote, support and attest to 'sustainable' fishing and advertise their 'dolphin' friendly brands while getting handsomely paid for it. Political agendas take priority #seaspiracy.

Well said Peter. I admire your restraint as there is far more that could be said about the insane de-evolution of industry that is going on in the name of the new religion of climate change and how the definite negative consequences far out weigh the possible negligible positives that will eventuate from all these so called "Green" policies being pushed.
