One of the brains behind last year's Bifrost Summit was Marcus R?nngren Liu. This year he is back in a new role as Senior Manager in the Sweden-US Green Transition Initiative.

Marcus, what are the hottest trends in the Energy sector right now? Some of the hottest trends in the US energy sector right now include the increasing use of renewable energy sources such as solar and wind power, the growth of electric vehicles, and the development of energy storage technologies. Additionally, there is a growing interest in energy efficiency and conservation measures, as well as the use of natural gas as a bridge fuel to transition away from coal-fired power plants. Another trend is the increased use of data analytics and digital technologies to optimize the performance of energy systems and reduce costs.

Of course we must also mention hydrogen and the breakthrough in fusion. Unfortunately there is a long way to go for both before they become an everyday energy source.

What do you think the New-Nordics can learn from Silicon Valley and vice versa? Silicon Valley is known for its spirit of collaboration and partnership, which has helped to foster a thriving ecosystem of innovation and entrepreneurship. The region is home to a diverse and talented pool of individuals, including researchers, business leaders, and academics, who come from all over the world to take advantage of the unique opportunities that Silicon Valley has to offer. This concentration of top talent makes it easy for companies to find the right people to help them grow and succeed.

Another key benefit of Silicon Valley is the abundance of investors that are available to entrepreneurs and businesses. Whether you are looking for angel investors, institutional investors, or large corporations, you will find them all in Silicon Valley. This wide range of investors means that businesses of all sizes and stages can find the funding they need to take their ideas from concept to reality.

The spirit of collaboration and partnership in Silicon Valley also helps to create a culture of innovation and experimentation. Entrepreneurs and businesses are encouraged to take risks and push the boundaries of what is possible, which leads to the development of new technologies, products, and services. This culture of innovation and experimentation helps to create a virtuous cycle of growth and development, where new ideas lead to new opportunities, and new opportunities lead to new ideas.

Overall, Silicon Valley's unique combination of talent, resources, and culture makes it one of the most dynamic and exciting places in the world for entrepreneurs, businesses, and researchers to work and innovate.

The New Nordics have a strong tradition of sustainability and environmental responsibility in our business culture. We have implemented policies and practices that prioritize sustainable development and resource efficiency, which has helped us to reduce our carbon footprint and create more resilient and sustainable industries.

One of the key lessons that Silicon Valley can learn from the Nordics is the importance of long-term thinking and planning in business. The Nordics have a culture that prioritizes the well-being of future generations and the environment, which has led to a focus on sustainable practices and policies in business. This long-term perspective helps to ensure that companies and industries are able to adapt to changing conditions and continue to thrive in the long run.

Being a cluster of small countries the Nordics focuses on the importance of collaboration and partnerships in driving sustainable development. This culture of collaboration and partnership helps to create a more inclusive and equitable society, and it has enabled the Nordics to achieve significant progress in sustainable development and resource efficiency.

The Nordics also have a strong tradition of innovation and entrepreneurship, which has led to the development of new technologies and business models that are more sustainable and resource-efficient.?

What are the biggest challenges in the green transition where we need more collab between the New-Nordics and California? Transitioning to a low-carbon economy, is a complex and challenging process that involves a wide range of issues and factors. Some of the biggest challenges in the green transition include, finance, technology, policy and regulatory and behavioral changes?just o mention a few.?

The green transition is a global challenge that requires cooperation and coordination among countries at the international level. However, it can be difficult to achieve consensus on issues such as emissions reduction targets and financing mechanisms. Overall, the green transition requires a comprehensive and integrated approach that addresses the social, economic, and technological challenges. It needs to be inclusive, and with participation of all the stakeholders, to be successful.
