In a remarkable display of corporate social responsibility, Uganda Breweries has donated threshers to benefit 1,000 smallholder farmers across five districts in Uganda. This initiative is a testament to the brewery's unwavering commitment to promoting sustainable agricultural practices and empowering the backbone of Uganda's economy - its hardworking farming community.
The thresher donation aligns seamlessly with Uganda Breweries' "Spirit of Progress" sustainability strategy, which aims to create a positive impact in the Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) spheres. Through equipping these farmers with the right tools and technology, the company is not only improving the efficiency and productivity of their operations but also reducing post-harvest losses and increasing their earnings. The inaugural African Climate Change Adaptation Conference, organized by the Agape Earth Coalition, is set to take place on October 7-8, 2024, in Kampala, Uganda. This landmark event aims to serve as a platform for sharing knowledge, forging partnerships, and catalyzing action towards climate resilience across the African continent.
The two-day conference will bring together a diverse array of stakeholders, including development practitioners, environmentalists, civil society organizations, the private sector, academia, indigenous groups, women, policymakers, experts, and media representatives. Discussions will focus on addressing the unique impacts of climate change in Africa, strategizing effective adaptation measures, and demonstrating workable solutions.
Themed "Actionable Knowledge for a Climate Resilient Africa," the conference will feature inspiring keynotes from top experts, informative panel conversations, cutting-edge workshops, and the showcasing of innovative climate adaptation initiatives. Organizers are encouraging organizations and stakeholder delegates from outside Uganda to participate in the event by filling out the registration form or nominating up to five representatives to attend.
This landmark conference aims to be a catalyst for collaborative action, fostering cross-discipline engagement and the development of sustainable solutions that balance green initiatives with economic growth, with a particular focus on climate change adaptation and climate finance. The Ugandan Minister of Water and Environment, Hon. Sam Cheptoris, officially launched the "Enhancing Community Adaptation to Climate Change through Climate Resilient Flood Early Warning, Catchment Management and WASH Technologies in Mpologoma Catchment (CARFEWW Project)"
The project, funded by the Adaptation Fund and implemented by the Ugandan Ministry of Water and Environment in partnership with WaterAid Uganda, will be carried out in the Mpologoma Catchment within the Kyoga Water Management Zone. The CARFEWW Project aims to increase the resilience of communities to climate change risks of floods and landslides through early warning systems, sustainable water, sanitation and hygiene (WASH) services, and integrated catchment management measures.
This initiative aligns with the Ugandan government's commitment to addressing the impacts of climate change and building the adaptive capacity of vulnerable communities. The project's holistic approach combines disaster risk reduction, climate-smart WASH technologies, and ecosystem-based adaptation to enhance the overall resilience of the Mpologoma Catchment.

The Government of Uganda, in collaboration with development partners, has unveiled a €13.1 million (UGX 52 billion) project to construct 9 mini-hydropower plants with a combined capacity of 6.7MW, along with a 288km local distribution network. The ORIO mini-hydro power project is set to connect up to 71,081 households and 2,300 small and medium enterprises (SMEs) in the target areas, significantly bolstering Uganda's energy access and economic development. The Green Industry Agenda outlines a comprehensive strategy focusing on key areas such as ecosystem preservation, renewable energy adoption, self-regulation, waste management, capacity building, and research. This initiative aims to drive sustainable transformation within Uganda's industrial landscape, positioning the manufacturing sector as a leader in environmental stewardship.

Making Older Buildings Green leasing them to Indoor Vertical Farms, Creating a $B+ business and 60%+ IRR
7 个月20% of all GHG emissions are created by moving food from where it's grown to where it's eaten. Growing food in cities in Indoor Vertical Farms is part of the solution. Indoor Vertical Farms uses 1% of the space, reduces GHGs and provides food security with vegetables free of pesticides. Local Grown Salads is launching and have found a way to get the primary financing through Green Bonds. The Bonds will be certified to be aligned with the UN SDGs.
