Green Party's Never-Ending Story
Carla Denyer, Green Party co-leader, was disappointed with Starmer’s first months of the ruling. She was clear that Starmer’s budget would never change anything; with so many financial holes, there is not enough money to fulfill all the promises Starmer declared during his campaign, if any. Denyer pointed out that Starmer, for example, refused to increase taxes for the rich; therefore, the government would certainly be forced to resort to more public spending cuts.
In the wave of finding any replacement for Starmer, a poser of 2025, in my opinion, we have failed; even the Green Party’s program is less than remotely interesting. Their eternal manifesto lacks only a reminiscence about the country before Brexit, but luckily we are hearing mostly about a new government and how bad it is now. Empty promises about the environment and love for only some human rights are not the most compelling topics for British citizens in those days.?
Are you saying we cannot say no to this??—?—?—
The Green Party is pushing for more green initiatives with no idea how these programs work. An example of these daydreams is the Greener Homes Guarantee, which promises safer, well-insulated homes. Submit the forms, provide information, and pray to qualify because not everyone lives in London. But we are rejected based on the type of accommodation we reside in. The Greener Homes Guarantee targets only homeowners and private landlords, giving them a free option to improve their properties. The same will not be extended to social housing and people struggling financially; these kinds of residents deserve their energy poverty, and even the Green Party is helpless or more likely hopeless.
Besides isolating well, staying warm slogan, the Green Party’s support for end-of-fault eviction is ongoing; it seems like removing the oxygen from leeches. However, the private sector is occupied by non-UK nationals (74%), and nearly a quarter are non-UK residents of minority backgrounds (23%), so whom would the Green Party like to help with this policy? Helping with social housing and the conditions will also not win Brits’ hearts. Households with a Black ‘lead tenant’ make up 7.0% of new social housing lettings; households with an Asian lead tenant make up 4.7% of new social housing lettings; Asian people make up 9.3%.?
Therefore, why would Brits like to accept these changes? For whom exactly? Maybe for themselves, I believe, while over 78% of white Brits occupy the social housing market.
Naturally, the party turned its attention immediately to its primary constituency, because why not? They are still supporting a promising package: increase Universal Credit by £40, remove the two-child benefit cap—limited edition, increase all disability benefits by 5%, ensure that pensions are always uprated in line with inflation, and keep pace with wage rises across the economy, increase carer’s allowance by at least 10% a month, and scrap the bedroom tax.

Apart from these wild fantasies, the party targets tax avoidance, but it would be less than useless. Although tax fraud costs the UK nine times more (£20bn) than benefit fraud (£2.2bn), justice warriors believe only foreigners take benefits and steal jobs, so the chance of being prosecuted for benefit misdemeanors is 21 times higher than being caught for tax avoidance. Of the 5.5 million people of working age who are currently claiming benefits, 371,000 are foreign-born. That’s 6.4 percent of the total number of people on benefits.?
Certainly, prosecuting benefits is easier; no one likes immigrants, especially with those numbers. This profoundly expected witch hunt is the show to prove who holds the power and to remind foreigners where their place is, allowing the richest to continue stealing money and enjoying their lives. Therefore, the Green Party, with its policy to end the hostile environment for immigrants, would never find a way to finish the race with a win, not against Starmer.
