Green H2- creating the confluence of global opportunity

As I travel back from the oil and gas rich Middle East, I am struck with the thought - how can we optimise #GreenHydrogen as the tool for global energy emancipation?

We must use green Hydrogen as the disruptive technology to tackle the triple crises of climate change, energy security and energy cost to deliver a triple green, digital and social transition. If we decentralise the centrality of capital we can unlock the latent value in our new emerging green economy.

As we lay the foundations for a global balanced pathway to #netzero we have an imperfect coexistence between the energy fuels of our present/past and the green solutions of our energy future. We are on the cusp of a new environmental, economic and social green dawn. (https://www.energymanagermagazine.co.uk/a-green-dawn-2023/ McCormack and Barry)

Bold steps must be taken to create environmental, economic and social opportunity where there might be a cost and risk, one where the reward is worth the challenge. We are

and must seize the moment. Carpe Diem. The greatest challenge and change brings the greatest opportunity.

Our global balanced pathway must be pragmatic and exploit all opportunity between existing and new infrastructure and technologies as we strive to meet the Paris Agreement targets of 2030 and 2050 and maximise the global environmental derivatives.

There is a Greek Proverb that states ' A society grows great when old men plant trees in whose shade they know they will never sit.' Our climate challenge requires us to plant a new clean energy economy that will provide immediate and growing shade for all.

Green Hydrogen is a clean energy vector and it is incumbent on us all to create a global vision, a global green tapestry with clean molecules and clean electrons at the centre. Countries such as Saudi Arabia with the Neom project, China with the Sinopec Ordos project and national initiatives such as the Inflation Reduction Act in the USA, REPowerEU in Europe and many more are creating the start of this green tapestry and we must build cohesion to achieve global resource efficiencies.

GenComm and other green hydrogen projects are creating the hydrogen hubs, the genesis of wider hydrogen valleys and informing national hydrogen strategies. They have created the skills and modules to sustain the transition to a hydrogen economy and are preparing industry today for the in demand careers of tomorrow. Through the energy innovation of 'hydrogenewables' the project partners Belfast Metropolitan College , IZES Saarbrücken , 爱尔兰国立高威大学 , HyEnergy Consultancy Limited , Energia , University of Luxembourg have helped chart the roadmap for wind, bio and solar, addressing the issues and creating the on-ramps for a European Hydrogen Highway. Delivering the tools and a pantheon of skills for a new clean energy economy.
