Green funding: combining initiatives

Green funding: combining initiatives

Ahead of World Environment Day?on Sunday 5th June, there are lessons still to be learned by our sector on combating climate change together.

'If funders had a stronger sense of who else is funding what, and what initiatives are in play focused on particular thematic issues, in particular geographies or using particular approaches, might that help lead to a more efficient sector?'

Last year, a revealing report from Environmental Funders Network (EFN), 'Where the Green Grants Went', looked at the efficiency and distribution of national and international environmental support from UK funders. The report identified significant steps that funders could take and the most pressing challenges holding funders back:

Now, a new report from EFN has been released: 'What the Green Groups Said', that shares responses of 'how the sector has reacted to recent events, in particular the pandemic, Brexit and increasing public and political interest in the climate and nature crises'.

As a connected network of community foundations, we strive to identify and develop combined initiatives to tackle the most pressing needs faced by communities today and in the future. Along with European Community Foundation Initiative we have aligned our work with the SDGs (Sustainable Development Goals) to focus on the Global Goals and help UK communities and local charities build a cohesive resilience to climate change.
