Green Frame | Red Frame

We’ve all been in those situations where we think nothing is going right, nothing is going our way. Whatever you seem to touch just goes to s**t.
When you think about it, have you started your day in the right frame of mind? When you set your alarm for the morning and it goes off, do you press snooze? When it goes off again do you press snooze again? And when it goes off AGAIN do you still press snooze? Is this starting your day right?
If you set your alarm you should get up and start your day right. Make sure it’s the first positive decision you make - to start your day off in the right frame of mind. This is crucial for anything you do in life.
Are you surrounded by other like minded people in a positive environment? In our business culture, we believe in the green frame and red frame philosophy. There is a green frame of mind or a red frame of mind; the positive and negative. You want to make sure you talk and interact in a green frame of mind, ensure you talk and think positively. Being in a red frame of mind is thinking and talking negatively.
Even if you are having an exceptionally bad day, you should force yourself to think in a green frame of mind. Ensure you speak to your team in a positive frame of mind. It will allow you to address them in the positive and find effective solutions to problems.
If you use the red frame of mind it causes negativity and can carry through the business into a negative working environment. It’s important to be surrounded by people in a positive mind set to create a positive working environment.
Our Shed has been operational now for 5 weeks and guess what - things go wrong, and have gone wrong. We've had data issues and stock issues; we've even had the entire system going down, resulting in our pickers having to stop what they're doing. It's not their fault; very rarely is it the fault of the end user. If our team leaders or managers are walking around in a red frame mindset our team members are going to see that and pick up on that, and this mood can be crippling.
Things go wrong and this is when you see true champions rise to the top. It's how they react to the situation that counts. It’s about positively dealing with the situation. We have had plenty of things go wrong but we have the right people with the the green frame of mind to fix it.
So the next time your alarm goes off - think about it - how are you going to start your day? Green Frame or Red Frame?
