Green Enterprise Architecture vs. Sustainable Supply Chains
Peter Klement

In my discussions in the last couple of months with many individuals and organizations on the topic of Green Enterprise Architecture, it became clear that from a sustainability perspecive the word "green" is associated with the environmental aspect of sustainability. If we look at the UN Sustainable Development Goals and the concept of the Triple Bottom Line, sustainability is broader. Also the intent of this Newsletter is to help organizations on their Twin Transformation around digital and sustainability that is bigger than only the architecture. It is also about strategy and implementation of digital solutions.
So my intent is to rename this newletter to represent a broader scope around digital sustainability.
I also learned a lot about data spaces and how they help to make whole supply chains, not only individual organizations more sustainable. So I plan to look at global supply chains, who can cross specific industries or have interfaces between them.
Following the Plattform Industrie 4.0 strategy to bring the concept of Catena-X (automotive supply chain) to other supply chains, this newsletter will look at current and future "X projects" from a digital sustainability solution perspective. Initial focus will continue to be enterprise and solution architecture, but also a look into how architecture supports strategy execution and makes sure it adds value during the solution implementation and operations part of the life cycle.
I have started with several organizations to drive this topic forward, so expect in the next couple of month more details around the collaboration with those organizations as well as the discussion of specific sustainability use cases that need digital technologies to be implemented effectively and efficiently.
