Have you ever been late to a party?

I have. In this case the solar PV party. I know most of you have been in solar forever while I was wasting my time in heat pumps but I am now a massive fan.

Yesterday I did something I've not done for 13 years, I switched my heat pump off completely, I'm not powering it up again till September. Just leaving it off saves me 1 kWhr a day from parasitic losses.

Solar is the new rock and roll. I have a little solar array, just 6 panels at home and today in the glorious sunshine I stuck it to the man, not only did I take no electricity off the Bastards who sell me over priced electricity but I also heated my hot water cylinder to nearly boiling point with free electricity and my Solic solar diverter. Think Eddi but much cheaper.

I'm determined to export absolutely nothing, fuck em, its my electricity, I made it I'm going to do with it what I like. I am as happy as a pig in shit. I actually washed my motorbike today in hot water, why? Because it was free. I know everyone else has solar and has been in the game forever but its new to me. I'm so hooked on it I've opened up a new niche. I'm telling everyone to get on board the solar coaster.

My dad lives in a village where the houses are listed and the old farts in charge wont allow any modern technology. Their shitty old houses leak heat like mad, they cant lag them and they are not allowed PV or heat pumps or lagging. No problem I said, we will install a simple single panel in a bin in the garden on a plug top. No paperwork, no planning, no permission, nothing.

Interestingly as I lugged the panel into his garden out of sight from the prying eyes of the old tossers who hate progress, a couple of neighbours asked if they could have one.
