CornWall: Fantastic Tiles Made from Corn

Hello, dear community!

We are super happy to share with you some incredible news that we have been making noise on our Instagram recently. We have explored the wonderful world of agricultural waste – yes, you read that right – and we have discovered something that could revolutionize the way we view construction materials.

Did you know that the corn cobs, often discarded as agricultural waste, can now be transformed into CornWall? This is an ecological alternative to the traditional tiles that we are used to seeing in buildings.

The coolest part? These coatings are created at low temperatures, using solar energy, which not only makes them biodegradable, but also sustainable, significantly reducing energy consumption in manufacturing.

But does not stop there! Cornwall has a mechanical fastening system unique feature that allows tiles to be easily dismantled, reused, and even returned for recycling. This not only extends the life of the product but also minimizes environmental impact, something we are extremely passionate about.

We are very excited to be able to explore and share technologies that promote sustainability and innovate in the use of materials. We believe that this news will thrill you as much as you excited us!

Discovering the Wonders of Africa’s Dorze and Nama Huts

Now, let’s go on an incredible journey to Ethiopia it’s at Namibia, where we discovered two wonders of sustainable architecture that are true lessons in adaptability It is resource reuse.

In Ethiopia, we find the fascinating Dorze cabins, woven from bamboo. What makes them unique is the way they shrink over the years.

Yes, you read that right! Due to attacks by insects and fungi, the base of these houses deteriorates, and periodic removal of the affected parts causes the height of the hut to rise gradually. It is an African lesson in stability that teaches us about the beauty of adaptability and intelligent design.

Not far from there, in Namibia, we have the huts adapted to the nomadic lifestyle. They are designed to be easily assembleable and disassembled, ideal for arid desert conditions. Each component of these cabins is designed to be reused and adapted, reflecting a sustainable approach to environmental challenges.

These knowledgeAfrican vernaculars are a rich source of inspiration, showing us how it is possible to live sustainably It is in harmony with the environment around us. It’s incredible to see how these communities use resources consciously, adapting to changes so intelligently.

Procreate and Looom: Two of the Best Apps for the iPad

We also recently shared on our Instagram some exciting news about biophilic design, and your response was simply incredible! Many of you were curious about the designs that we presented, done directly on the iPad, and asked about the software we use to bring these ideas to life.

We are here to share a little more about these powerful tools that transform our artistic vision into reality: the Procreate and the Looom.

Procreate: Your Canvas for Unlimited Creativity

Procreate has become an indispensable tool for our biophilic design projects. Not just for your ease of use, but for the ability to store everything directly on the iPad.

The main characteristics are the graphic capacity and the possibility of recording the evolution of our drawings.

This means that every brushstroke, every detail we add, is memorized, allowing us to create an animation showing the entire creative process. It’s like bringing our art to life!

Looom: Animating Your Drawings with Ease

For those of you who love animation as much as we do, the Looom is another recommendation that we cannot ignore. Especially for those who like draw by hand and want to explore their artistic merits in a new way, Looom offers an intuitive platform to create animations charming with ease.

Looom is more restricted in terms of colors and layers, but for simple and fast animations it is the best software I know by far.

I hope these tips strengthen your journey to sustainable design!

Have a great Tuesday,

Filipe Boni
