Catalent celebrated its second annual Earth Month celebration throughout April, with employees and green teams across the network enthusiastically responding to this year’s theme: Catalent Unplugged. This year, 22 sites organized activities to help minimize the environmental impact of our operations, with a focus on reducing CO? emission by decreasing energy use and intensity.

Many sites have an organized Green Team dedicated to initiatives that improve the environmental footprint of their local community and site. Employees participated in a range of green activities – volunteering, recycling, wearing green, raising awareness and eliminating waste.

In a company-wide coordinated effort, our Global IT team launched phase one of an e-waste recycling drive in our North American and European sites the week of April 22 to April 26. Employees brought in personal electronic items to responsibly dispose and recycle them. Recycling and safely disposing of electronics free up landfill space, protects the environment, prevents contamination and the release of toxic chemicals.

In another sustainability effort, our GOLD (Global Organization Leadership Development) associates are working on a Capstone project focused on implementing energy saving and CO2 reduction projects across four Catalent sites - Winchester, St. Petersburg, Bloomington and Kansas City. These energy-saving initiatives, guided by Global Environment, Health & Safety (EHS), will help decrease energy use which is in line with Catalent's goal of reducing energy use by 15% over the next 5 years.

Even though Earth Month officially ends in April, our green efforts will continue.   Follow #catalentcares on social for more updates.
