Green Beret Foundation x John Fletcher Fundraiser 2021
I wanted to launch a fundraiser in honor of my cousin John Fletcher. As many of you know, John was a friend, brother, son, uncle, and cousin impacting so many lives with his persistence to pursue life, regardless of the challenges ahead.
The Foundation I have chosen to team up with is the?Green Beret Foundation.
I am pledging $50 dollars for every mile I run in a half marathon. The race will be in San Diego, CA on December 18, 2021. Donation Page
About the Green Beret Foundation
The Green Beret Foundation provides Special Forces Soldiers and their families with emergency, immediate, and ongoing support. We have assisted nearly 15,000 families since our inception in October 2009 and continue to provide programs and services in support of the community on a daily basis. Since our inception, we’ve invested 84%, or 84 cents of every dollar, into our programs and services, which has totaled to over $16 million that has directly supported the Regiment and its families. GBF is the only non-profit solely dedicated to supporting Green Berets and their families that have achieved a 4-Star Rating with Charity Navigator. Also, GBF is the sole special operations benevolent organization that is accredited by the Department of Veterans Affairs for the purpose of preparation, presentation, and prosecution of disability claims.
More about John?
John Paul Fletcher served honorably as a soldier in the United States Army. John enlisted in 2005, completing infantry and Airborne training at Fort Benning. In June of 06, while assigned to the US Army Special Operations Command (USASOC) at Fort Bragg, John suffered an accident that left him paralyzed from the waist down. He was awarded the National Defense Service Medal, Army Service Ribbon, and the U.S. Army Excellence in Competition Rifleman Badge. John retired from the Army in 2009. Over the next seven years, John earned a BS in International Studies with a minor in Arabic from the University of Utah and a Juris Doctorate from George Washington University Law School in Washington D.C. John graduated in 2016 and joined Wiley Rein’s Government Procurement Law Practice where he counseled and represented government contractors on a range of legal issues, including internal investigations, bid protests, and complex litigation in Federal and State courts. At the time of his death, John was a Visiting Associate Professor and Graduate Fellow at GW Law supporting the Government Procurement Law Program, and was a National Security and Cybersecurity L.L.M. Candidate serving Externships in the Intelligence Community. John loved the law, but more than the law, he loved his family, his friends, and adventure. His travels to Egypt, Turkey, the Hawaiian Islands, the UK, Croatia, Hungary, Puerto Rico, and Italy were action-adventure opportunities to scuba dive, four-wheel, ski, and skydive.?
