Greece Update

As the Greek tragedy intensifies, the critical operational question is not whether creditors will pay lip service to keeping Greece in Eurozone. They will.
The question is whether they will proactively step up to counter the growing Graccident momentum that would force Greece out of the Eurozone. Their appetite for this has diminished.
Greece's European partners, as well as the IMF, are exhausted. They are exasperated with the Greek government. And they seem more comfortable with their ability to limit adverse contagion. There is even talk that the Eurozone may ultimately be better off with Greece out.

9 年How come no one remembers "what they we thinking"? They were thinking that Turkey will be next to join and Greece would show them the way! This was a political decision, had very little to do with economic fundamendals.

9 年It was a capital mistake to let them in in first place. What were they thinking ? That despite cultural differences and values all would be fine once they joined the €uro family ? After all these years they still haven't been able to show progress through solid measures and reformation. That goes for other weak € countries too, but probably for other reasons. For the strong € countries it's like trying to fill a bucket with holes. A pointless exercise.
