In an "Us versus Them" mentality, We all lose...
In the intricate tapestry of human history, division has been a persistent thread, weaving its dark hues through the social and political landscapes of nations. Greece, with its rich historical narrative, serves as a poignant case study. From the ancient discord of the Peloponnesian War to the modern schisms brought forth by the Military Junta, Greece has been a stage for contention. Yet, the essence of disagreement, while inherently not malevolent, morphs into a force when it births fatalities and, more insidiously, an "Us versus Them" mentality (UvT).
This UvT mindset is one of the most destructive forces in human interaction. It undermines the very foundation of community—cooperation towards shared objectives—and sows the seeds for enduring division. This tactic, historically leveraged by empires and conquerors under the guise of "Divide and Conquer," has not been the tool of just the powerful or the manipulative in Greece; it has become a pervasive strategy, utilized by all, eroding the fabric of societal cohesion.
In contemporary Greece, the discord spans a wide range of issues, largely because the culture of dialogue has been supplanted by a culture of disagreement. This shift does not merely hinder resolution; it amplifies division, promoting an environment where common goals and collective welfare are sidelined in favor of individual viewpoints and the quest for attention.
In the past, division was encouraged by controlling the Media and how information was disseminated. Today, with the advent of the digital era, less emphasis is placed on controlling the media, and more so on creating an overabundance of it.
How an 'Us versus Them' society is encouraged:
Such dynamics foster a society obsessed with the currency of attention, sidelining meaningful discourse for sensationalism. The cacophony of competing voices does not foster understanding but drowns out the possibility of it. In this din, the essence of communication is lost; voices clamor not for consideration but for dominance, reducing dialogue to mere noise.

The challenge, then, is to navigate this fragmented landscape with intentionality. All voices deserve to be heard, but in a manner that encourages reflection, not just reaction. The objective should not be to amplify noise but to seek harmony amidst discord, recognizing that differing opinions are not barriers but bridges to a more nuanced and comprehensive understanding.
As we stand at this crossroads, the path forward is clear. We must strive for a dialogue that transcends the superficial allure of attention, seeking instead to engage with the diversity of thought in a constructive manner. It is only through such engagement that we can hope to dismantle the insidious "Us versus Them" mentality that threatens not just Greece, but societies worldwide.
And unfortunately, in Greece, different opinions are creating noise, and no-one is being heard.
And we are all ending-up broke and broken.

'Not barriers, but bridges', I like this formulation. How would we go about building more of these bridges?
