"...age should never be a barrier to success."
Earlier this morning, I was on a bike, and while en route, the rider pointed my attention at an old factory that was recently acquired. In his words, "Do you know that it's a young guy that bought the factory and it's worth some billions of naira?" Then, he went on talking about how a young man can't have such an amount of money and assets without soiling his hands. He said further, that such exploits can only be possible after you've suffered a bit and then you can begin to do big stuff later in life. I assume he meant the 40s and 50s. He kept on ranting and ranting, projecting his belief with illustrations different stories, and experiences. I had to shut him up because we shared different schools of thought but beyond that, I did that to avoid such from getting to my subconscious mind. The words you hear often, things you see, confessions you make, books you read, environment/company you stay around contribute to your thought patterns and ultimately your belief system. I'm of the opinion that a man can can get things right, once, and early in life. I don't belief in random sampling, trial by error, or starting out early. In fact, my surname "AJILEYE" is a Yoruba name that means; people who have honor early/wake up to honor. It's why I've lost the capacity to think small or think I have to wait till a certain age before doing some big things.
As the rider's words echoed in my mind, I couldn't help but reflect on the different paths we choose to navigate through life. His skepticism about the young man's success resonated with a common narrative - that significant accomplishments are reserved for those who endure years of toil and struggle, only reaping the rewards in their later years. But as we journeyed on that bike ride, I found myself challenging that notion.
I've always been a firm believer that age should never be a barrier to success. The idea that one must "suffer a bit" before achieving greatness has been ingrained in our society for far too long. I always remind myself daily of the importance of seizing opportunities and taking action early in life. It has instilled in me a sense of urgency and a refusal to accept mediocrity. I want you also to refuse to subscribe to the notion that success is a distant dream reserved for some distant future. Instead, I believe in the power of ambition, determination, and strategic planning to turn dreams into reality, regardless of age.
Mark Zuckerberg, who launched Facebook from his college dorm room at 23, forever changed the landscape of social media. Steve Jobs, co-founded Apple in his parents' garage and revolutionized the technology industry.

These stories serve as a testament to the fact that age is merely a number when it comes to pursuing your passions and making an impact. It's not about waiting for the perfect moment or reaching a certain age; it's about seizing the opportunities that present themselves and having the courage to pursue your dreams relentlessly.
So, the next time someone tells you that you have to wait your turn or pay your dues before achieving success, remember this: greatness knows no age limit. Whether you're in your twenties, thirties, or beyond, the time to start is now. Embrace your youth, harness your potential, and dare to defy the status quo. After all, honor doesn't have to wait for the morning; it can be found in the early light of dawn.
