Greatness Is in Everybody
Political Columnist- Sherry Holliman
? It is time for you to reflect over your life up to this day. What life events have caused you to feel some type of way? How did you cope? Have you ever considered yourself great or just others??Do you realize that every human possesses greatness??However because people are judges most humans will not feel comfortable owning their own greatness. Greatness does not mean being famous, smarter, or rich.
Greatness is simply being the best version of yourself. Most great people can complicate this feature because they are afraid of their own self for various reasons.?Who defines your greatness? Many would say that you aren’t considered great until many people know your name. In addition to being the main topic of conversation, being wealthy, wearing expensive jewelry, winning awards, and trophies does these things make you great? With public opinion's definition of greatness always changing, how can one consistently measure greatness by comparing two great individuals and determining which one is less great?

Greatness should never be defined by society. It should never be defined by how much money you have, the car you drive, or how many times your name is mentioned in a conversation. You should define greatness for yourself. The way in which you are great cannot be compared to someone else’s. All the praises in the world cannot convince you that you are great unless you feel it and believe it. Greatness never has to give an explanation. True greatness is shown through one’s works and actions, the way you impact the lives of others. Greatness does not make excuses or fear failure. Most importantly, greatness does not define itself based on someone else’s greatness.
Living your life everyday in a state of comparison and competition can become stressful and depressing. Living your life based on the life of someone else will only leave you confused about who you are. The thought of competition with others for greatness will only leave you fearful of achieving and accomplishing goals because you are afraid you won’t do it as well as someone else or have the same outcome. Everyone should find their own greatness. Ask yourself what is my greatness? What are your gifts that make you great? From this day moving forward you should address tasks in life head on with the intent of giving everything you got. Only you know about the sleepless nights, and the sacrifices you made.
Greatness looks different for everyone. For one person, simply getting out of bed in the morning is greatness for them.?To find your greatness you will have to push through all obstacles and break down barriers, do everything with the goal of achieving greatness for yourself and no one else.?Life begins when you are uncomfortable,?you might be comfortable in your day to day routine but are you being challenged, and improving or growing every day? Being uncomfortable will make you change or stay your same self.
Everyone can claim to want to be great but if you are not determined and not willing to make sacrifices such as not partying, losing sleep, or living on a very strict budget you are not serious about being your greatest.?Failure should not be scary in fact it is necessary to appreciate moments of motivation that are brought on by some perceived failures.??In the new year, find the change to make the change and prepare yourself to get out of your comfort zone. Start a conversation with someone that does not think or look like you??Remember Rome was not built in a day.
