The Greatest Show on Earth

The Greatest Show on Earth

This Weekend is the start of the Bulls 10-part documentary series “The Last Dance” starting this Sunday. For me, the Bulls are an example of the crossover between my personal and professional life.

Those golden years of the Bulls Dynasty bring such fantastic memories – I was so fortunate to have been able to attend many of the games with my father, who used the tremendous sports achievements to bring together many of our clients and partners. I witnessed firsthand what I can only describe as “brilliance” – on the court from the Bulls, who played as a team stronger than ever to win multiple championships, and off the court from my father, who built lasting relationships with our media partners and clients. “Lasting” as in continuing today – more than two decades later.

My favorite part of the night was often the car ride home. My father would always explain how we were watching something extraordinary, memories and stories to last a lifetime, and how lucky we were to share it with our vital partners and clients. To this day, my father’s words ring true and I continue these bonds with past and present friends, the lines between professional and personal virtually not existent, especially during this time.

Those games, the championship, the wins, the energy – often referred to as “The Greatest Show on Earth” – brought many of us together with a sense of unity that I’m excited to re-experience this weekend. We’ll be six feet apart on Sunday, but I’ll be watching with the man who taught me lessons during those games and throughout my life that stay with me today. There’s no one I’d rather watch with than my father.

Incredible to see what the rise in prices of Bulls memorabilia over the last two weeks. Anything related to MJ and Scottie on eBay is selling for 5-10x in a short period of time. I’ll never forget going to my first game with my dad. It was regular season Bulls v. Celtics at the old stadium, Bulls won and MJ had 32 & 13.

Those were the years! Getting customers to go to a Bulls game was the easiest phone call to make. Dinner at the Como Inn then on to the United Center. Many great games, many memories. But one stands out. I managed to put one ticket "aside" and took my teen daughter to the game. She is now 37 and remembers it well and still thanks me for that night. As usual, family memories win.
