What are we buying into??Are we believing that we have no power to change??Or, are we actively opening our ability to be creative and find solutions to the problems we face?
With all the conversations of climate change and the happenings within the world, we can get caught up in the story that we are powerless to effect any kind of positive change.
Who am I??This one teeny person to do anything about such great big issues?
This is the tragedy of epic proportions, the fact that humanity has forgotten its innate ability to be creative, to imagine what the future could hold, to dream, to open up to what else is possible.
Yes, we’ve been told there’s no place for dreamers, to get back into the real world, that the vision of what we see is NOT possible!
The Greatest Pollution of All
The lack of belief in one’s own creativity to make a positive impact and a difference.
Even in my line of work, I find it disheartening that we’re advised to “market to people’s pain points”.?It’s easier to sell to someone to get out of pain than to sell a vision of what could be.
Really??Is that how we see ourselves??In pain and powerless to make a difference?
This heightens the message of pain because it's promulgated everywhere, which further creates the evidence of: see, it’s a real problem, let’s do something about that.?
The more we focus on the problem, the more of the problem we will get.?Instead, when we shift the focus to what we’d like to create, strangely, this leads to solving the problem, and we get to create something better than we can even imagine right now.?
Instead of being led by the familiar feelings of inadequacy, whatever form this takes, we have an opportunity to look ahead and dream a better future for ourselves, and the world.?Is it possible we feel the inadequacy because we are not listening to our inner guidance, not following the light that burns within us?
Are we buying into a story, the story of dependence, of striving, of inadequacy - fuelled by the media’s insatiable appetite to paint the picture of doom, of Armageddon?
The Greatest Pollution of All
What can we do instead? ?
How do we make a difference?
How do we stand up and have our voice counted?
It starts with one…
One voice
One heart
One dream
One creative idea
There are plenty of examples of people who have made this kind of difference. ?
Was it easy??No. ?
Did it involve failure??Yes.
Was it worth it??I guess that's up to the individual.
Did Edison know how far the lightbulb would go??Did Einstein know he would make such massive strides in the field of physics, some of which are still unrivalled today??Did Oprah know how much of an impact she would have in how people feel about themselves??Did Martin Luther King know the impact he would make on the equal?rights for Black Americans??Did JK Rowling know how huge her wizards would be?
None of these people knew they would be great.?They followed something lit up within them.?They had to fail many times before they achieved their greatness.?Instead of buying into the stories of powerlessness, which I’m sure came up, they ploughed on ahead, inspired by something bigger than them… a vision of what could be.
These examples also show that greatness doesn’t fit into a box.?All of them have completely different life stories, different geniuses, but all one thing in common, they listened to the inner genius rather than The Greatest Pollution of All… the story of it not being possible.
Our greatness fits each of us!?What is our creative genius??What is our unique magic we bring into the world?
For so long I couldn’t speak up.?I used to get tongue-tied and couldn’t come up with the answers straight away.?I thought I wasn’t good enough.?But here’s the thing, I was trying to be “smart”, “intelligent”, think the same way as everyone else.?I was stifling my creativity, buying into society’s expectations of how my life should go a certain way.?It didn’t, and that’s okay.
Life has taught me to listen to “me”, to listen to my intuitive genius, to trust myself and to go for it.?Now I realise the answers are in the moment, not in the “past and the known”, they are in the present moment and therefore “unknown”, until they are known.
This is true for us all.?Our innate creativity is not in what’s done, it’s in what’s left to discover.?To find the opportunity in the possibility of what could be.?It’s being curious about what we could create if we are open and willing to believe in more than the rhetoric.
The Greatest Pollution of All
So if you are open and willing to see the gift in the greatest pollution of all, what lights you up from the inside out??What is it you could create??What is your unique stamp on the world?
If you can feel the fire burning within you, allow your mind to open and breathe in the anticipation of all the opportunity and possibility your creativity has to offer.?Have the courage to follow your inner flame.
