The Greatest Man I ever knew...

That day started out as any other day

And one phone call made it all so grey.

Everyone tells me that I need to move on

but it's just not fair that you are gone.

People keep asking if I'm okay

the answer is no but it's yes I say.

During the day I have to remain strong

I put on an act to show that nothing is wrong.

But at night my tears do flow,

it was just so sudden that you had to go.

I don't know if I will ever understand 

why this had to happen to you,

but I am proud to boast to everyone that 

my dad is the greatest man I ever knew.

You were always there for me 

never once did you make me cry,

until the day you closed your eyes 

and forced us to say goodbye.

Now you are our Guardian Angel, 

so spread your wings out wide,

Please wrap them around me 

whenever you see me cry.

Our time together was fantastic with so many memories 

and God took you away too fast,

The most precious thing to me was 

you being there for my first breath,

However, my greatest regret remains that 

I could not be there for your last.

I wish I could've said goodbye, 

that morning when you left,

Told you that you are my hero

and that you are simply the best.

Tears I cry in secret, 

at night before I sleep,

Wishing you were beside me, 

you'd be forever here to keep,

Wishing I could hold your hand, 

to shout your name aloud,

You're no longer here dad, 

but I hope I make you proud.
