The greatest thing Jobs designed was his business. Apple imagined and executed definite multi-year plans to create new products and distribute them effectively.

Design means to devise a course of actions (a plan) aimed at changing existing situations into preferred ones. A lot of people think about design as an act of beautification and aesthetics. But that's graphical design not design.

For Jobs designing means solving interesting problems and create plans of actions to shape the future we aspire as a business.

Jobs saw that you can change the world through careful planning (design), not by listening to focus group feedback or copying other's successes.

Jobs planed (deigned the way) the iPod to be the first of a new generation of portable post-PC devices, but that secret was invisible to most people.
