The Greatest Disconnect

The Greatest Disconnect

What would you say if I asked, "Do you believe in intuition?"

Surprisingly, in a recent survey I ran, every single respondent said they were convinced, that's right, it's a hundred percent and yet despite widespread agreement, many of us have trouble tapping into or trusting our innate wisdom.

Here is my simple LinkedIn Poll, it was a YES or No.

With 109 votes, all YES, the question then arises:

why is there such a disconnect between belief and action?

More Than a Gut Feeling

First things first: before we get into the meat of the problem, let's take a quick look at what intuition actually is. Lets us imagine that you are at a fork in the road, both physically and figuratively speaking. Despite the absence of a compass or any other external cues that could point you in the right direction, you FEEL compelled to go in one of the two possible directions. That "nudge" or feeling that you are experiencing is intuition. It's almost like having an internal compass that points us in the direction that our subconscious mind believes to be the correct one. Consider:

  • What would life look like if you confidently knew you were making the correct decision?
  • What would business be like, what would you create if you could trust your gut to lead to success?
  • What would your daily life feel like if your intuition led you to the right community of people?
  • What if someone could unbox this internal compass for you, would you trust it?

Fear vs Intuition: The Crossroads

CREATED WITH MIDJOURNEY

After reading the insightful comments from a recent audio room session, a key reason why many people do not act on their intuition is the difficulty in differentiating the voice of fear from that of intuition. This is a massive stumbling block , consider it in like this:

Imagine that you are carrying around two radios inside of you, one is called Fear FM and the other, Intuition Beats, they are both stations that are carried on the radio.

Now, if both radios are playing at the same time, it is going to be quite a challenge for you to determine which music originated from which station. This is the point at which many of us become frozen or confused.

Let's run through the various consequences of this constant confusion:

  • A) Indecision: When you can't tell the songs apart, you might just turn off both radios. In life, this translates to not making a decision, leaving us stuck in limbo.
  • B) Regret: Ever chosen a song only to realize it wasn't the tune you were in the mood for? Similarly, when we act upon fear thinking it’s intuition, it can lead to choices we later regret.
  • C) Frustration & Self Sabotage: It’s like constantly switching between stations, not settling on one song. In life, this wavering can manifest as self-doubt, leading to frustration and actions that hold us back.
  • D) Lack of Confidence: If we're always unsure about our song choice, we might stop trusting our ability to select good music altogether. Likewise, when we mistake fear for intuition repeatedly, it chips away at our self-confidence.
  • E) Wrong Turns: Just as selecting the wrong song might dampen a party's mood, making decisions based on fear instead of genuine intuition can lead us down paths we never intended to tread.

Tuning into "Intuition Beats"

Given these challenges, how do we fine-tune our internal radios to clearly listen to our Intuition Beats?

  1. Understand the Science: At its core, intuition isn't magic. It's a rapid, subconscious processing of past experiences, learned knowledge, and environmental cues. Realizing this makes it less mystical and more accessible.
  2. Recognize its Language: Intuition often communicates subtly – a gut feeling, a sudden thought, or even a recurring dream. Paying attention to these signs can help differentiate it from the louder voice of fear.
  3. Practice Makes Perfect: Like any skill, the more you practice tuning into your intuition, the better you'll become at recognizing and trusting it. Tools and exercises that foster mindfulness, like meditation or journaling, can be instrumental.
  4. Know its Stages: Just as a song has verses, chorus, and a bridge, understanding the stages of intuition – from the initial inkling to the full-blown "aha" moment – can help us harness its power. There are 4 stages of intuition, most of us only know or have been taught of one very basic and binary level --- there is so much more!

Embracing Your Intuitive Gift

At the end of the day, we must accept and openly embrace our intuition as a gift that we all embody, it is a component of the normal human experience that sits dormant as a potential ally, ready to be recognized and utilized. It is a game changer in both your personal and professional life.

Do you know what the most incredible part is?

This present isn't only for a select few human beings, it's available to everyone on the planet. Unwrapping it and putting it to its highest and best use is within the reach of each and every one of us - what a gift that is!

?? Tara, David the Shark here! ?? Diving through the LinkedIn ocean, I sensed a ripple from your post! Just as sharks have an acute electroreceptive sense, humans have intuition, an unseen, unspoken guiding current beneath the surface of our conscious minds. ?????? In the shark world, ignoring these innate signals can mean the difference between thriving or merely surviving. Similarly, when humans tune into their intuition, they navigate life's murky waters with a sense of purpose and clarity, distinguishing between the fear that paralyzes and the gut feelings that propel. ?????? Remember, even in the darkest depths, bioluminescent creatures rely on their inner light to guide them. Similarly, your intuition is your inner light in life's vast ocean. Keep swimming, and let's light up the depths with the brilliance of our innate wisdom! ?????? Spread Shark Love #GabenFreUde ???? #divineintervention Shark Fact: Sharks have a sixth sense called electroreception, allowing them to pick up on electric signals from other creatures—nature's version of intuition guiding them towards their next move or meal! ?????
