There is Greater Need For New Thinking

We live in a complex world. Everything is changing as a general rule rather than as an exception. Contrary to popular thinking and belief, there is always need for new thinking. In the complex retail market and restaurant industry for instance, there is an emerging trend for workers to take a break during Christmas and Thanksgiving in the U.S.A. In many other countries, workers generally take a break every public holiday. Since many people still need to be able to buy grocery and also eat in restaurants, there is need for development of a system or systems and a process or processes that will cater for the need when the workers are away. In other words, there is greater need for automation, robotics and development of self-service restaurants and retail supermarkets, mini-markets and stores. We can further say that there is also a need for mobile retail stores and restaurants, the kind of stores and restaurants that will take groceries and food to homes and places where people need them during times when supermarkets, restaurants and stores are closed for holidays specifically and even during other days and even overnight.

Last Christmas, we watched shoppers stranded outside several retail stores as the stores closed exactly at 6:00 PM on Christmas eve. It was clear that many people were taken unawares by the closures. They thus had no option but to make do with whatever they had in their houses as they could not buy food that they needed for Christmas. Most restaurants also closed at the same time and hence people did not have places where they could go to order their favourite meals for Christmas.

During such times as what we have mentioned, automated and robotic systems and mobile restaurants and supermarkets can serve the need. Such systems can serve the customer base and at the same time earn the relevant businesses, supermarkets and restaurants revenue and even increase their profitability. It is time that such flexibility in the retail sector and in the restaurant and hospitality industry is developed to serve the ever changing needs of the modern customers and consumers. Flexibility can also develop into the realms of fully self-service grocery stores, mobile supermarkets and mobile restaurants and eateries.

We all know that there has to be continuous improvements in every sector of the economy. As the needs of the people keep changing, so also should we keep focussing on newer, better, greater and more versatile ways of doing things. That way we can realize a truly 24-hour economy and hence make society more prosperous.
