No Greater Love: A Reflection on Leadership, Sacrifice, and Trust

No Greater Love: A Reflection on Leadership, Sacrifice, and Trust

I humbly submit this article in honor of my Servant Leader Father who modeled the following precepts before me and thousands of others. Additionally, I trust it pays respect to Presidential candidate and former United States President #45, Donald J. Trump.

I chose to release this sequel article about the assassination attempt on former President and current candidate for a second term, Donald J. Trump. It is a different spin than the previous release in that it focuses on how tragedy and conflict can amplify and emphasize the importance of Leadership, Sacrifice and Trust.

I witnessed his entrance into the RNC Venue in Milwaukee, WI, on his first public appearance since the attempt, greeted by a standing ovation and resounding cheers from the crowd. It was a profoundly emotional moment. As he entered to the strains of "God Bless America," I was overwhelmed by a wave of emotion. There was something noticeably different about his demeanor. Strangely, at that moment, certain of his mannerisms brought vivid memories of my late 6' 8" father to mind. Trump's gestures as he greeted his family and the crowd evoked the presence of my own larger-than-life Dad. I was overwhelmed with the bittersweet emotion of how deeply I miss him and how much I owe my principles of servant leadership to his enduring influence.

Recent events have once again thrust us into the swirling waters of political turmoil and division. The assassination attempt on a former president has left many shaken, questioning the state of our world and the nature of true leadership. It is in times like these that we must anchor ourselves in the timeless truths of Scripture, finding solace and direction in the words of our Savior.

Jesus once said,

“Greater love has no one than this: to lay down one’s life for one’s friends” (John 15:13).

This profound statement, nestled in the heart of His farewell discourse, reveals the essence of true love and leadership. In this simple yet profound verse, Jesus unveils the bedrock of all meaningful relationships—sacrifice and trust.

?

The Heart of True Leadership

?

At its core, leadership is not about power or prestige. It’s about serving others, often at great personal cost. Jesus exemplified this by laying down His life, not only for His friends but for all humanity. His sacrificial love set the ultimate standard for leaders throughout history.

Leadership that mirrors Christ's example is marked by a willingness to put others first, to make decisions that benefit the many, even when it comes at a personal cost. This kind of leadership fosters trust and intimacy, creating a foundation upon which communities and nations can stand.

?

The Power of Sacrifice

?

The recent attempt on a leader’s life reminds us of the fragility of human existence and the importance of selflessness. True leaders understand that their role is not just about guiding people through good times but standing firm in the face of adversity. They recognize that their sacrifices, both big and small, strengthen the bonds of trust and respect within their community.

?

Sacrifice in leadership is not always as dramatic as laying down one’s life. It can be seen in everyday decisions: a leader who listens more than they speak, who prioritizes the needs of their people over their own ambitions, who is willing to admit when they are wrong and seek forgiveness. These acts of humility and selflessness build the trust necessary for genuine leadership.

?

Intimacy and Trust: The Pillars of Leadership Love

?

Intimacy and trust are the twin pillars that uphold the structure of leadership love. Intimacy in this context is not about physical closeness but about knowing and being known. It is about leaders who genuinely care for their people, who seek to understand their struggles, hopes, and dreams. This level of understanding creates a deep sense of connection and belonging.

Trust, on the other hand, is earned through consistent, selfless action. It is built when leaders keep their promises, act with integrity, and put the welfare of others above their own. Trust is the currency of leadership; without it, no leader can truly lead.

?

A Call to Reflect and Act

?

As we reflect on the recent events and the Scripture that speaks to the greatest love, let us also reflect on our own lives and leadership. Whether we are leading a nation, a community, a family, or simply our own lives, we are called to emulate the sacrificial love of Christ.

Let us strive to be leaders who serve with humility, who build intimacy and trust through our actions, and who are willing to lay down our lives—metaphorically and literally—for the betterment of others. In doing so, we will not only honor the legacy of Christ’s love but also create a world where true leadership can flourish.

I say,

Humility is not thinking less of yourself, but it's thinking of yourself less.

In the words of Jesus,

“This is my command: Love each other as I have loved you.” (John 15:12).

That is Humility in a nut-shell.

May we take these words to heart, leading with love, sacrifice, and trust, and thereby transforming our world for the better.

God Bless America and may God protect and bless Donald J. Trump.

You know, the definition of the word "Christian" means "Christ-Like". How can followers of Jesus ever believe that the Son of God would keep company with this loathful man, Donald Trump. Or worse, have you support him. That's not me saying it, it's HIS Word, in the Bible: https://www.dhirubhai.net/posts/aimastery_to-my-fellow-americans-of-faith-is-activity-7257402515527245824-XPNY?utm_source=share&utm_medium=member_desktop

Great article but the pictures / references to Trump don’t make sense as his leadership style is the opposite of what is described.
