The Great Zoom Background Saga
Nailing the perfect background for Zoom calls and online meetings is easier said than done! Despite our best intentions, sometimes the world sees a version of our background that we didn't quite mean to broadcast.
Case in point: a TV interview on BNN Bloomberg today, where the guest proudly displayed their company logo as a custom background. The catch? The image was reversed, and the text ran right-to-left, giving it an unexpectedly exotic, mirror-image vibe.
As for me, I’ve steered clear of fancy Zoom backdrops. I mean, if my background is a picturesque San Francisco bridge or a beach in Florida, I’m pretty sure viewers will know I haven’t magically teleported. If I were to use a background, I'd probably take a photo of my actual bookshelf – that way, if the real bookshelf doesn’t make the cut, at least my “virtual†one would!
The takeaway from today's reversed-text lesson? Always give that background a once-over before hitting “Join.†And remember folks; your background does matter... just maybe not in reverse.
