GREAT WORK FROM SONORA MEXICAN KITCHEN
We’ve been hearing of some great work being done in our communities by local businesses and today I caught up with Shaun Sedani from Sonora Mexican Kitchen along Montagu Street.
“My name is Shaun Sedani and I am the owner of Sonora Mexican Kitchen. Along with my head chef (Shane Turiccki) we have been cooking 100 meals a day to those who are struggling at this time since the 25th March.
We have been providing the free Christmas meals for the last 4 years and decided now, more than ever, is the time we needed to ensure people had access to a free hot meal.
Using the restaurant (Sonora Mexican Kitchen) and the church next door (Eden Centre) we have been able to cook food that has been donated to us by various streams to make a home cooked, hearty meal.
Frank Rodgers of Spoke Guards Ltd has helped in setting up and running this emergency coronavirus support meal scheme and we have received tremendous help from Kettering food bank in getting the ingredients, along with Morrisons in Kettering.
Myself and Shane (pictured) have been cooking the meals while Frank and his family serve them. This model has helped us keep to government standards of safety as well as keeping the 2m social distancing in force.
The council have provided us with two volunteers who manage the guests outside to ensure everyone is in keeping with the social distancing rules.”
Thank you to Shaun for his time and keep up the good work!
