Great Ways to Kick Off the Last Season of the Year

As we move ahead into the final few months of the year, we could all be tempted to sit back a little as the holidays approach. It’s during this time that you really want to take a minute and refocus, as hard as it may seem. The beautiful fall and winter months, when it becomes darker, sooner, family holiday functions, and more can leave us curled up on the couch rather then applying our daily activities. Many members of my team ask me the best ways to stay focused during the last season of the year. Here are a few tips to help you establish a daily routine and create the time you need to maintain and grow your network AND have fun too. Here is a picture of my husband and me and two rockstars in my business enjoying Switzerland in June. I can promise you the rewards of focus and discipline are worth it! Let's get started.
Plan Ahead
If you don’t feel that you have time to plan your day in the morning, then look at planning your day the night before. Before going to sleep, write down the TOP 5 most important things you need to do the following day. More than that and you will go into overwhelm mode and this TOP 5 criteria helps me focus on what is truly important. Remember 80% of your income comes from 20% of your time! Go the extra step and time block the time you’ll require for prospecting, follow ups, meetings, Webinars and any events you plan on attending.
Meditation and/or Prayer
Be sure to set time for this (approx. 10 minutes). It may not seem like a lot of time but this will help you re-center and clear your mind and get you all set for your day. Schedule a second session in the middle of your day if you feel it necessary. The saying goes that you only need 10 minutes to meditate unless you think you don't have time to, then you need 20 minutes. :) I write in my journal in the morning also to keep me centered and to keep my mindset happy and moving forward.
Personal Growth and Mindset
Try to spend anywhere from 15 to 30 minutes a day on your own personal growth and to the development of your mindset as an entrepreneur. You can learn to have the mindset of an entrepreneur! Our school system doesn't teach this so it is up to you to develop this muscle. Read some book (or listen to audio books) and watch videos. Start your day off with this (before checking Facebook) to help direct your day. You will have a better day! And when you string better days together it equals a better life. ( Here are some of my favorite mindset and entrepreneurial books! )
Exercise
How important is daily exercise? Well, I just finished an hour walk, a short weight workout and a short cardio workout. It is crazy how good it feels after! Exercise will release endorphins and get the blood flowing. It improves your mood, helps you feel good and exercising (a minimum of 20 minutes) will improve your focus and give clarity to your thoughts. It truly is the best thing. I was just listening to Tim Ferriss (author of 4 Hour Work Week) and he was talking about how as he has gotten older, he makes more and more time for exercise. I can relate. It is an easy habit to get into AND an easy habit to get out of, but definitely one I will always do my best to incorporate everyday.
Prospecting
After you get through the above, perhaps the most important thing you can do everyday to help move your business forward is prospecting with new people and following up with your current prospects. If you aren't talking to new people all the time, eventually your teammates won't either. Everyone will plan for a different amount of time of their day-to-day prospecting so here are some guidelines:
- Try to connect with 5 to 10 new people per day. If you are going for rockstar status, then 20 people.
- Attempt to show your business to at least 1 to 3 people per day (roughly 5 to 10 per week)
- Spend 1 to 2 hours per day just on prospecting. This means getting people to view your presentation (either audio, video or in person), time to make follow up calls, and signing people up. This is the most IMPORTANT part of your day.
Being proactive, and taking steps to prevent distraction during the holidays will keep your business on pace and thriving. You got this. If you neglect your business, and your daily activities slow, this will set up how the next season will run within your business. And then the next one after that....Keeping focused, with a clear plan in place, will not only help you in your business, but also will trickle down to your team. They will model your actions, and what's better then having motivated, focused team? Follow these tips and I am confident you will focus on your work during the last season of the year AND enjoy the pumpkin pie too! Set up a schedule that best suits your needs and requirements, and your business will reward you for it! Most of all, make sure you enjoy this precious time with your family and friends.
