As we are living through this era of FEAR on one side and HOPE on the other side...Let us first understand that 'Fear' is a negative emotion and 'Hope' is a positive emotion. According to NLP (Neurolinguistic Programming of our brain) two opposite emotions cannot co-exist. No way!
Let us try a simple example.
1. Let us think of one of our happiest moments. Got it? Hold the thought.
2. Now let us think of one of our saddest moments.Got it? Hold the thought.
3. Now let us think of both the happy and sad thoughts together.
Impossible..right?
In the same way Light and Darkness cannot co-exist, Day and Night cannot co-exist, Truth and Lie cannot co-exist, Positive and Negative thoughts cannot co-exist.
And this is the absolute truth.
The other truth is that our minds cannot lie vacant. There is always some or the other thought going on in our minds.
Try this: Think of nothing for a minute.
Impossible...right?
So in these fearful times let us STOP our negative thoughts (by pressing the Delete button in the mind) and SWAP these with more positive Hopeful thoughts. This has to be done by conscious effort, mindfulness and with pure intention.
Here is my list.
You can make your own.
1. Thank you God for one more of this beautiful day
2. Thank you God for the roof over my head that I call home
3. Thank you God for the love of family and friends around me
4. Thank you God for the good health that I enjoy so that I can work on my dreams
5. Thank you God for all the material comforts that surround me
6. Thank you God for all the rich varied everyday experiences that teach me valuable life lessons
7. Thank you God for the job that I have
8. Thank you God for the food on my plate
9. Thank you God for holding my hand and guiding me through these troubled waters
10. Thank you God for keeping me and my loved ones safe.
Try repeating these simple affirmations in your mind just before going to bed every night. By doing so, these positive thoughts go straight into our sub-conscious mind. Because, while we sleep, our conscious mind is also sleeping, but the sub-conscious mind is wide awake. It is processing all our thoughts that we have fed into it.
A statement oft repeated tricks our brain into believing it as reality.
Repetition of words and thoughts are the best ways to install a belief in our subconscious mind.
It is as good as the old adage of "shubh shubh bolo".
Love, prayers, good health & hope.
Be your own sunshine.
