Great things take time

We live in a world that adores speed. We want things immediate and fast. And this culture has become a running theme in all parts of our lives, like learning, business, design, writing, diets, fitness, etc. But this isn’t how it really works. We know the story of “The Tortoise and the Hare” and it’s moral but still don’t want to believe in the power of slow. The older the wine, better it tastes. Flowers also need time to bloom. So do you and your business.

If we are constantly in a rush, it is easy to make mistakes and may lose long-term opportunities. In these stressful situations, we tend to forget that we can actually increase our speed if we slow down a bit in starting. We see this in Corporate World too. In order to be successful as a company, leaders and managers eagerly find smarter ways to be more efficient. In this rush, it becomes easy to lose sight of important stuff, and to know where to focus more. This can be a hard truth to swallow. We need to be patient and focus more on consistent and steady improvements. Slow down and with patience, discipline, and hard work, everything you are chasing will come around and catch you.

Good things take hustle. Great things take time.

As long as you’re walking, speed doesn’t matter. As long as you’re putting in the work, something will happen. Though it might not be exactly how you imagined it, it will come, and in a better way.

You need to keep a few things in your mind while taking steps towards the life you want.

  • Trust yourself - Trust is the most important thing. Trust in yourself, wherever you’re in life right now, you’re doing amazing. Never let your fear of ‘things not working’ stop you from taking any steps. Keep your eyes open, focus your attention and appreciate even the smallest of victories.
  • Take a step back - When you feel you’re stuck and feel exhausted, it’s good to take a step back. Let your subconscious think a little bit extra. And then go forward.
  • Make progress - As far as you’re getting closer to your goal every day, it doesn’t matter if you do a little or a lot on a daily basis. Set incremental goals that will get you where you want to go. Slow and steady wins the race.
"I walk slowly, but I never walk backward." - Abraham Lincoln

Basically, as long as you’re putting in the effort to move forward, you’ll definitely achieve success. First step is never fast, successive steps get faster. Keep it up and believe in yourself.
