Are Great Things Happening In Detroit?

These are exciting times in Detroit. The Q-Line is up and running. The Center for Disparity Solutions and Equity at The University of Michigan Dearborn is taking a deeper dive into supporting equitable initiatives in the fields of education, health and human services. Community development organizations like Cody Rouge Community Action Alliance, Eastside Community Network, Central Detroit Christian, and Southwest Solutions are developing and implementing community centered projects that are improving the quality of life in targeted neighborhoods.
To know that there are 42 men who are fellows of BMe Community Detroit championing and building more caring and prosperous communities and touching approximately 432,000 lives via their economic development, educational, mentoring and health services makes working in Detroit a rewarding experience.
Today, at Cody Rouge's neighborhood plan unveiling, Tonya Allen, President & CEO, The Skillman Foundation, lifted up the great work that partners like DTE Energy, Quicken Loans, General Motors are doing to co-invest Detroit. Rooted in the Maasai tribe of East Africa's philosophy of protecting the young, Allen's speech encouraged participants to continue to leverage the capital of residents, community based organizations, local government, corporate partners and suburban friends to develop and sustain pathways to success that ensure our most valued assets, the children of Detroit, are protected and positioned to soar.
Of the many stories that I have witnessed and read germane to the great things that are happening in Detroit, I am very excited to share Ann Zaniewskis', Detroit Free Press, story on two Detroit youth chess teams that won "first place awards at a national championship competition."

7 年DrTruman Hudson Jr. where do I start. I really appreciate all you've done to position the Cody Rouge community to be ready for transformation. The years, hours, and minutes you've spent in training our community board of directors, strategic plans development, and executive coaching is truly the glue that made everything stick. As I scan across the city to identify consultants who understands the dynamics of community development, you are byfar at the top of the list. No joke! You get it. What sets you apart from the rest is that you really care about the residents of this city, passionate about education, understand the importance of building a pipeline of leadership, and last but not least you can't get your skill from a text book. Keep educating and pass the baton to next vanguard of community developers.
