THE GREAT THING ABOUT LIFE IS THAT, WHEN WE REFUSE TO ACCEPT ANYTHING BUT THE BEST, WE OFTEN GET IT!
The passage, ‘Play skillfully on the harp’ (Psalm 33:3), reminds us that, as a former president of Yale University once pointed out, Hamlet could never have been written by a committee, or the Mona Lisa painted by a club, or the New Testament composed by a conference, because creative ideas usually come from individuals and when it comes to our God-given talents in a culture where excellence is the exception, God’s Word admonishes us to be different, with a fresh newness in all we do. In other words, to win we must deny ourselves many things that would keep us from doing our best. So let the knowledge that: 1) There is a remarkable difference between 99 per cent and 100 per cent commitment; 2) others will gauge our character by the height of our ideals, the breadth of our compassion, the depth of our convictions and the length of our persistence; and 3) The great thing about life is that, when we refuse to accept anything but the best, we often get it; teach you to always approach every task with your mind firmly focused on how you can do it better!FG. www.fgtalks.com
