GREAT RESIGNATION, QUIET QUITTING AND CHANGE

We hear a lot about these recently, but why are people quitting? Why leaving jobs that seemed good before? And if not leaving, why does the zest, motivation, seem to be gone?
There is no doubt that the pandemic and the exposition to other ways of living and thinking has stirred up the world we live in.
For better or worse, the world we knew is gone. And we need to work, together, on building a new one.
1 in 3 employees are considering quitting their job (a staggering 33%!!), and according to a study from Flexjobs, these are the top 5 reasons why employees quit: (you can check the study here and the article from Forbes here)
1.????Toxic company culture (62%)
2.????Low salary (59%)
3.????Poor management (56%)
4.????Lack of healthy work-life boundaries (49%)
5.????Not allowing remote work (43%)
Please note that even though salary is the second reason, the other 4 do relate in some shape or form to wellbeing and the new way in which we see this new world.
The underlaying truth on all this is simple: people want a BETTER life, and life is not one dimensional (work OR personal matters), is holistic. It’s a 360.
And better can be many things: ?for some it’ll be working in an office 5 days a week, for others full-time remote, for some it’ll be the flexibility to work non-restricted hours, for others sticking to the 9-5, for some it’ll be being constantly challenged and learning new things, for others it’ll be pushing themselves out of their comfort zone in a steadier way… ?(you get the drill). Whilst this is something you cannot control, creating the right environment and feeling empowered to be your best is.
(And in doing so, we’ll see the employee resignation rate decrease and the work satisfaction and employee engagement increase).
How can you achieve this? Think of this question: “how do you feel empowered?” - You really get to know yourself and tune into your values, you know your strengths, you increase courage to have honest communication.
We are all part of the work culture. Emotional and social contagion is a real thing. Each time a person comes to work as best energised self that affects and inspires the people around them.
This is what we teach on EMPOWERED TO THRIVE and our brand-new course, EMPOWERED TO LEAD, for each person to get to know themselves so they can be the creator of their work and home life and not the victim of circumstances.
As research shows, and the people we have worked with find, often they get same problems in their next job. It is a repeated pattern that continues to show up unless we tend to the root of the matter, unless we understand our own behavioural patterns, our strengths and how to use them to unlock our true potential.

As, like many other businesses, NBCUniversal hit the six month mark working remotely we felt that it was really important for the Women’s Network to start supporting one another to not just survive but Thrive in our personal and professional lives.
