The Great Reset - Part 1 | #MyFridayStory No. 337

Dear Reader,

I haven’t asked before but I should always be concerned about your well-being. I hope this message finds you well and in high spirits.

I recently finished reading Dr Brian D. McLaren’s latest book "Life after Doom: Wisdom and Courage for a World Falling Apart " , published 14th of May 2024. Brian is the Centre for Action and Contemplation (CAC) dean based in New Mexico. (I got the Audible Version of the book which is 24 hours long and read by Brian himself.)

Since finishing the book, I have been mulling over the hard truths contained in its pages. I searched for more research and the opinions of other experts and found further confirmation. I read almost constantly, checking other books on the subject, and watching vodcasts, key speeches, and any other sources to gain insights to help form a balanced view.

As the title suggests, “Life After Doom” is an uneasy read due to its somewhat negative connotations.

Our society has and continues to mess up the environment, effectively putting our civilisation into a situation of overreach. Already, millions of species have been driven to extinction, soils have been stripped of their fertility, and our natural resources are being harvested and exploited at a rate faster than the earth can replenish any of them.

To continue at the current economic trajectory, our deep reliance on fossil fuels to drive growth could spell doom for humans on this planet. Add to that our continued drive to decimate more of the rainforests and more of our oceans, killing more insects, animals, and plants, all without a care for their loss. With no intention or ability to replenish what we continue to strip from the earth, overreach is not far-fetched.

To be fair, our forefathers had no idea of the consequences of their actions when they first fuelled their impressive steam engines with wood and coal and then later the combustion engine with oil and petrol. Fossil fuels have driven our civilisation to populate the entire globe. Without being initially aware, over time we’ve built our entire world around this ecosystem—an intricate system of economics, distribution of goods, and inter-reliance that makes what you do to one side of the world impact the other.

Because of this drive for progress at all costs, we have built a worldwide system that needs massive amounts of energy to sustain such growth. Our capitalist meritocracy has resulted in the world's wealth being in the hands of a few individuals while people all around the world every day still live and die in poverty.

As brothers and sisters of this earth, we have been commanded to blend in with the natural environment, nurture and grow it, and make it bloom for everyone on earth. We should start by loving one another as we love ourselves and as we love our Creator. Our Creator made us in His image to be the custodians, “God’s Representative,” sharing love towards each other and all creatures, plants, birds, fish, and trees—everything we have been gifted.

When Jesus was on Earth, He preached love for God our Creator and love for each other. He even taught us to LOVE our enemies. He taught us that violence solves nothing but that love conquers all. Jesus brought heaven to earth. He allowed the two domains to touch and overlap. Jesus wanted us to experience Heaven here and now, on this Earth, in this life, not only after we are dead.

We are expected to live our lives as if we were back in the Garden of Eden, serving our Creator, each other and all Creation with love, love, love.

Just love.

Have a great weekend and please remember to be generous! ??

A great article indeed. But what can we do if our politicians are controlled by greedy business people. If only we can change the way the world is governed. Not by the sponsorship of private business.

The best is yet to come.

This whole rush is driven by greed in my opinion, but at least you end of on a more positive note, "Thy kingdom come on earth as it is in heaven". Thanks for sharing my friend.
