The Great Reprioritization
Maribeth Thomas, an Aduro recruiter, shares her thoughts on The Great Reprioritization

The Great Reprioritization

At our first company meeting of?the?year,?our CEO, Darren White ,?takes time to?walk?our company through our 2022 plans and goals.?One topic that came up during this presentation was the Great Resignation and how this?time?has impacted our company.

Instead of talking about this as a threat, Darren re-framed the Great Resignation as the Great Reprioritization. As a recruiting and onboarding coordinator and life coach, this reframe caught my, and many co-workers' attention as the chat?started getting "chatty" regarding this perspective on what has been and is currently happening in the workforce in America.

Darren explained the Great Reprioritization in this way...

Image with red text of a quote that says, "People have learned a lot about family and purpose in their own personal life during this pandemic and I think that they are just prioritizing differently. I think this is a good thing and people should be in places that make them fulfill their dreams."?

I couldn't agree more.

I have seen?articles, podcasts, and social media posts?about reframing the Great Resignation. There are different phrases that describe this moment in time for our workforce:

  • The Great Reprioritization.
  • The Great Reinvention.
  • The Great Reshuffle.

All of them mean the same thing. People are leaving their jobs and moving to different ones.?There are many reasons why this is happening,?not just?one.

Why are we trying to fit this time into a box?

It's different for each?individual. Maybe they?want to be challenged and grow in their career,?need?more money,?need/want?to be more available for their?kids, need to take care of a sick family member, want to have a seat and voice at the table,?want to show up unapologetically themselves each day.?Maybe it’s the combination of?many different wants and needs?that aren’t listed here.?The point is...people?are looking for something better, something different.?

We are seeking change?because the landscape of our working world has changed.?People are drawn to organizations that take care of the human?beings?that are moving their mission forward. We want competitive salaries, great benefits?and?support, great co-workers and most importantly thoughtful and empathetic leadership. Organizations are listening and making these changes to attract talented people to their teams.?They will lose some great people as they make moves to transform and they will also attract new talent that might be the key to moving their companies forward in exciting ways.?

I work for?Aduro and we are?helping companies?implement?tools — through technology and human interaction — to?support?and uplift?their employees.?

In our own company,?I have seen people come and go?over the last few years. Each time people leave, I’m sad to lose them?and?I cannot wait to see where they end up and the impact they?will?make in the world. We also welcomed some amazing people to the team who are adding value to our product and culture in ways that?cannot be measured.

All of this to say, whatever reason you have for making a shift, it is valid. You know what is best for you – to stay or to leave – so reframe this time however you see fit and bring your fullest, brightest, most authentic self to wherever you land.?

Sincerely,

Maribeth

The Great Reprioritization ... I love that. Totally agree and see that in my own life/work as well.
