Great Questions To Ask at the end of your next interview!

We have all been there.

The pivotal moment at the end of an interview where the spotlight shifts, and you, the candidate, are handed the opportunity to ask questions.

Yet, too often, we find ourselves falling into familiar traps: either bowing out with a polite "no questions from me" or firing off generic inquiries that barely scratch the surface of what truly matters.

But why settle for standard answers when you can pose GREAT questions that get you the real answers.

Here are some actual, real life examples you can use in your very next interview.

  • "Can you share an example of where the business has helped or supported an employee with their development and progression through the ranks?"
  • "How does this position contribute to the overall goals of the company?"
  • "Can you share examples of when the company has embodied its values?"
  • "What challenges are the business / team facing right now?"
  • "What made you join this business?"
  • "How does this business stand apart from its competitors?"
  • "What does a top performer look like in this company"
  • "Could you share any insights into the reasons why people have left the company or team in the past?"
  • "What are your expectations of me if I were to come into the business?"
  • "Can you give an example of the last time the business implemented change based on staff feedback?"
  • "Every business has areas of improvement, what are you looking to implement in the months, years ahead?"

Don’t settle for generic, company standard responses.

Moving roles is a massive commitment, go in with your eyes wide open.

If a business can’t provide you with these answers then it might be time to question the business you might be joining.

However a company that can provide open, transparent answers to these types of questions even if they are not all positive is surely the type of business you would want to work for.

For me, don’t shortcut yourself.

Take some time before your next interview to prepare the questions you need answered to make an informed decision.

Feel free to use these ones if they help.

Best,

Richard
