Great Pleasure to Host Sugar Ray Leonard Lunch

What a day yesterday organising and hosting the Fleet Street Sporting Club's lunch with the great Sugar Ray Leonard at the Café Royal Hotel. Guests such as Sam Allardyce, Gregg Wallis and Michael Cheicka queued up to have their photos taken with him like kids in a school canteen. Ray was both charming and humble. His stories about his career, the Fab 4 - Leonard, Duran, Hagler, Hearns - and his journey post career including cocaine addiction and talking so openly about being abused as a child (so sadly pertinent right now) captivated the audience. I ended up having dinner with him and his son Ray Junior too in a more relaxed environment at the Jumeirah Carlton Towers hotel in Knightsbridge. I have been privileged to have interviewed many of the world's top sporting stars over the past 25 years and he is right up there with the best.
