Great planning frameworks
It's not the model you use, but the way you talk about strategy that makes the difference. But frameworks can help - so here are 3 that I think work really well for organisations at different life stages:
Playing to Win - Five key questions need to be considered together in Lafley and Martin's Strategy Choice Cascade. A great framework for big picture thinking. The most important questions are Where to Play and How to Win.
Blue Ocean Strategy - W. Chan Kim and Renee Maubourgne's approach helps organisations create new opportunities through new market propositions. High level creative thinking is required to define new markets and new value/cost opportunities.
Drivers Model - This planning model from facilitator Michael Wilkinson can be applied to any size organisation. It's simple but effective - particularly its focus on critical success factors (what needs to go right) and barriers (what could stop us).
